Arghh I cant believe it's my turn to write my birth story ladies!!

Well just for those that have managed to miss my constant moaning threads I had a bit of a rough pregnancy. Fiance left me when I found out I was pregnant, despite trying for a baby for 17 months, just decided he didn't want a baby and left me, then I got hyperemesis and was in hospital for 8 weeks as couldnt even keep water down, followed by a blood clot in my calf and another 4 weeks in hospital.. Then I was fine until about 35 weeks pregnant annnd...

I started getting really bad chest pain and pain around my right ribs..It got so bad that I went into hospital and they automatically assumed because of my previous blood clot that I had a blood clot in my lung causing the problems.. Turned out that I didn't so the rubbish, thoughtless, let down of a hospital told me that it was normal pregnancy pains and told me to go home despite me begging to get induced at 36 weeks. Literally a day after coming out of hospital I woke up and felt like I was having a heart attack, my sister called an ambulance, they took me to a completely different hospital to the one I'd be in previously and about an hour after me being admitted, they realised my liver function tests were completely abnormal and after a few more tests they realised my gallbladder was full of gallstones causing the pain. I was put under a specialist consultant because of all the problems I had going on.. I had to wait 3 days, and was given pethidine every 6 hours as pain relief and gas and air when I needed it.. (I was literally off my face!!) The consultant finally came to see me and said she wanted to wait a few days to see what goes on with me.. So I was put onto Tramadol for pain relief..

Anyway, this is turning into an essay so basically it took the stupid consultant another week and half to come back and see me as she was based in a different hospital! When she did come back, I was in the shower, so she just didn't bother waiting! That night, I started vomiting bowls and bowls of blood from 6pm, at 2am a doctor came to see me and just took a blood sample to test to see if I had digested any blood and to check to see if I was anemic.. I couldn't stop throwing up blood, I was too weak to call anyone to come be with me because I couldn't even really sit up, so I was on my own all day.. The midwife that was on the day shift looking after me just kept coming to take the blood away and give me new bowls and saying she was waiting to hear back from my consultant about what should be done with me.. By 7pm the night shift midwife arrived and I stood up for the first time that day to go to the toilet and just blacked out. Luckily I was on a ward and a visiting dad saw me and carried me back to my bed and called a midwife. The night midwife came, took one look at me and said she was disgusted that I'd just been left in that state. She had to go to the head of obstetrics for the hospital group, who said that I needed to be changed consultants to the one that was on call that night, that consultant came to see me and literally within about a minute of talking to me and the midwife said lets get you induced now...

Gave me a stretch and sweep there and then, said I was already 3cm dilated and they'd get me a bed on labour ward asap. I rang my mum and sister but my mum couldn't get there in time, so contacted my ex, who ended up coming to see the birth of his baby after we had broke up 9 months earlier!

They broke my waters just after 12am, (omg worst part of my labour!! they break it with a hook, press on your tummy and the water just gushes and feels like a hot cup of water over your legs.. THERES SO MUCH!) I stood up to go clean myself down and it kept coming, the poor ex had to clean it all up.. Least he could do after 9 months though! Anyway they put a hormone drip up and within an hour my contractions were 40 seconds apart and at least a minute a time.

I thought I'd want gas and air, but I didn't like it, because it was too much fussing and I felt it was making the pain worse, so I just coped by laying and breathing through the pain and wanting complete silence.. I didn't moan or groan once, and I just was so angry when anyone spoke to me!

I had one shot of pethidine and the pain got loads easier. Then at about half 5 the next morning I had a sudden urge that I really needed to poo! I told my midwife and she said theres no way that the baby is coming my contractions werent strong enough, I didnt need a poo the baby was just moving down and making it feel like I did. I insisted, I NEED a poo, and the baby had already got a clip on his head to monitor him.. so she said she would let me go for a poo but had to take the clip off the baby first and to tell her when my contraction had gone and she would take it off.. she waited, and my contraction went, then 10 seconds later I had another and I said no I'm going to poo myself now. Next thing I heard was OH MY GOD THERES A HEAD! from my sister.. Midwife got me on my side very quickly and my ex held my leg up. I pushed for about 15 minutes and then, Dylan was born!

I really expected the rush of love I had heard about but I remember the few seconds following his birth I just stared into the ceiling in shock.. I was seriously just in shock and didn't know what was going on. Then he was put on my chest and after about 30 seconds I just started crying my eyes out because he was finally here after the worst 9 months of my life.

The day of his birth was filled with investigations and tests that came back that I had a torn stomach. I'm now well on my way to being fixed 6 days later. And after spending over 20 weeks in hospital all together through my pregnancy, after Dylans birth I was home TWO DAYS LATER!!

I was out and about shopping with him on my own yesterday, 5 days after giving birth. I feel so so healthy! Because I've been ill for sooo long now that I'm better I feel capable of anything.

He's absolutely perfect and I'm completely besotted. My ex, that disappeared for 9 months, completely transformed at the birth, and couldn't be much better now. He's been fantastic. He bathed me after the birth because I was very drugged up! He's done everything and is just in love with the baby. I'm so happy . He has a new girlfirend so we will see how it all pans out and if he sticks around but right now, things are perfect.

Sorry it's been so long but I didn't want to miss anything of my birth story out x
