So, I started taking vitex and B100 complex this month. I am getting fertile cm but the crazy thing is that my libido is through the roof right now. I'm not sure if it will change after O or not, but I'm interested to find out. I had a strong libido when I was younger, but it has been very low for years and years. Normally I am hiding from dh, but now I can't wait for him to get home. Anyone else have this effect from either of these supplements?

Haven't tried either of these but i'm interested to hear the answer from anyone who has?!

Wow, I'm surprised nobody else has noticed this! It is like night and day. I may take this in the future even when I am not FTC because I feel like I have the sex drive of when I was in my twenties.

So far, I'm happy with the results of the cites and b100 together. I seem to have o'd a little earlier (which is what I was hoping for) and I have had tons of ewcm, which I normally only have creamy.

If I don't get pregnant this cycle, I'm hoping the herbs will shorten my cycle. Since my miscarriage in November I have had 35 day cycles.

Interesting!!! Might try it myself also if this month isn't a bfp! Which it will be of course! - gotta think positively!!!

I've heard women can get feel really horny around ovulation so the vitamins must have increased it ten fold for you. Can only be a bonus around that time though. Think I can sneak it my DH's tea? x

i did some research online to see if it can increase libido. apparently, both vitex and b vites can increase sexual desire in women. however, don't give it to dh because vitex apparently can lower sexual desire in men. who knew?

now that i have probably o'd, i am interested to see if my sex drive stays high through the rest of my cycle or if it drops.

at least if i don't fall pregnant this cycle, it will sure be a lot more fun trying :haha:

Really? Just so you know I wouldn't really sneak stuff in my DH's tea. i'm not crazy. haha

Yep its got to be more fun trying when you are actually up for it! Good luck

haha, i didn't think you would actually sneak something, but just in case you convinced him to take it, that would be bad!

thank you and good luck to you too!!

Good luck to you! I feel like I have to wait forever because I just got my positive OPK yesterday. I HATE waiting. Let me know how your test turns out. I think you should wait until Friday to test :winkwink:

Hi girlnextdoor!

I just came across your almost 12-mth old thread about vitex whilst doing some research on it! Congrats by the way on your pregnancy, that's fantastic news! When are you due?

Anyway, I did try to PM you but since I only just joined it won't let me... so I hope everyone forgives me for long post and any nosy questions I ask!

My story is that I have two pre-school aged boys and at war with myself whether I want another baby or not. That aside, even if I did I probably wouldn't be having much luck (as it is there have been plenty of cycles it *could/should* have happened but it hasn't.

Since the return of AF after quitting b/f my youngest, my hormones seem to be really screwed. Although I'm a regular 28 days, I ovulate on the late side, have a 10-11 day luteal phase and get the most awful, painful, heavy bleeding that lasts for aaaages. Plus the last 6 mths at least I have battled with moderate chin /jawline pimples and it has all been doing my head in.

I have been checked out for endo, fibroids, cysts, thyroid issues etc... everything has come back negative, which basically boils down to the fact that I have a hormone imbalance. I refuse to go on any BCP or other synthetic hormones (doctors answer) and know if I did acupuncture/TCM it would fix it right up, but seeing as I'm not actually TTC I can't really warrant the expense of that.

SO, for months now I have been on a mission to find another way to make all this go away! I have tried lots of supplements - magnesium and B6 seeming to work the best of the lot, but still not the answer to everything.

HOWEVER, 4 weeks ago (at the start of my cycle) I decided to start taking Vitex after reading so many good things about it (but also bad!). I ovulated on day 15 (not that I am officially tracking, but I know my body so well now that it's hard not to notice all the signs!), which is about 3 days earlier that usual and have just gotten AF now after a relatively healthy 12 day LP. My skin has also cleared up in the past week or two - it is the clearest it has been in YEARS.

So far my bleeding is still heavy and painful, but we'll see what happens. I don't expect 100% miracles with everything in the first month!

The other thing you mentioned which I took an added interest in was the fact that your libido seemed to have returned the first cycle you took Vitex. Was it a lasting thing??? Or just a boost at ovulation that first month?

I ask because I am in the same boat you described - used to have a really high sex drive in my 20's-early 30's but now it is practically non-existant. Very occasionally at ovulation I will feel in the mood, but it's not often. I have been putting it down to the stresses of being a mother, being busy and always tired, but the truth is it's really bothering me and I miss feeling the way I used to (and I know my partner does too!!).

So my fingers are crossed that this vitex has another added bonus... didn't happen this month, but maybe next cycle it will kick things up a notch!?!? Or maybe it's just wishful thinking, lol.

Thanks girlnextdoor - and anyone else who reads this and has something to say!

Well, I did get pregnant the first month that I took Vitex, but I miscarried that one at 7 weeks. However, of my three miscarriages, it lasted the longest and I had all the "normal" pregnancy symptoms that I never had with any of the others. So, I think it did help. I just think eventually my hormones started to fizzle out and I needed progesterone to keep the pregnancy going. I also found out I had a clotting issue, but we were never sure if that was the cause of the miscarriages or not. Part of me thinks I just needed the progesterone supplements.

As far as libido, I LOVED having my libido back. It was so nice to feel like I wanted to have sex again. But, it only lasted while I was taking the Vitex. As soon as I stopped, my libido went back down. If this wasn't our last planned pregnancy, I might consider taking it just for that purpose in the future. However, I would be a little worried about accidentally getting pregnant while on it :haha:

I refuse to use birth control except for condoms as well. I was on the pill in the past and I developed an autoimmune disease. It went away when I got pregnant with my son and has never come back. So, I believe there is a hormonal impact in it, and I'm not taking any chances!

Good luck with whatever you decide! I hope they can figure out what is going on with your body, it sounds so frustrating :hugs:

I've noticed this too but not to the extent that you're describing. I've been taking b vits for a while but this month I started red raspberry leaf tea, royal jelly and ginseng. I feel like I used to when I was younger too - better sex drive, my CM is back, and my face broke out lol! I'm hoping these are all good signs! Thinking of trying vitex next cycle now.
