My mom sent LO some vtech toys from the States for Christmas, like a little phone etc. The volume is SO LOW. I mean, I know you don't want it so loud that it damages LO's hearing but it's barely audible. There's no volume switch and I've changed the batteries and it doesn't make a difference. Is this just what vtech baby toys are like? The Fisher Price stuff I've bought here in the UK you can hear on the moon.

I have a vtech baby walker which has two volume levels. Even on the lowest it is loud. And very annoying!!

I wish my LOs vtech toys were barely audible, they are definitely the most annoying!

Ah yes, I forgot about that one, we have the same. HELLO PUPPY CALLING DO YOU WANT TO PLAY WITH ME, LET'S HAVE FUN TOGETHER WHILE YOU LEARN YOUR A-B-C'S  I will be hearing that from the grave.

Which is why I'm wondering if it's just something with the vtech toys from the States, you know, litigious and all, maybe there was a lawsuit and they have to be quiet.

This is an example of one of the toys: https://www.walmart.com/ip/VTech-Tiny-Touch-Phone/16782965

Haha! Holly has the one with 'puppy says' on it too :haha:

We have the vtech phone too and ours is very quiet. I thought it might be batteries but maybe it's just the way they are?

Keelan has a vtech caterpillar, cow and teddy, they are not quiet in any way! I think a repair man was driven insane the other day by "I'm a cow come play with me, learning colours and shapes, yippeeeee" arghhhh lol

The phone comes with a note in the instructions that once you pull the tab out to activate it it'll set itself to a volume designed for devices that are held up to the ear (rather than the usual Vtech sanity testing levels of full blast brain rot). I remember reading it when someone bought her one for Xmas.

My personal hate at the moment - the fisher price shape sorting cookie jar - I have the song wedged in my mind!

SHAPES ARE IN MY COOKIE JAR, TRIANGLE, HEART, STAR, THERE'S A CIRLCE OVER THERE, HERE'S A SQUARE! (yep we have that one too ;))

Well done you for actually reading the instructions, that makes sense although I don't know any kid who actually puts the phone to their ear, it's more like, what can I hit with this?

We had this problem at Christmas and I wasn't happy with the volume difference you couldn't hear it well at all in your hands so we cut the tab that you should pull out and wedged it in the back of the toy, it won't come out so is safe for LO but at least she can hear the songs now, I may regret it though, we have to cookie jar, walker and so many noisy toys at least Emma plays with all of them so it's not the same ones over and over again lol xx

We have the 'My Puppy Pal Violet' and it's so quiet! I was thinking the other day that something must be wrong with it :haha:

My LO puts the little red phone from his vtech walker to his ear until we say 'hello mummy - hello daddy - hello baby' and then his mouth every time he picks it up but I think that is only because we put it to his ear and said 'hello mummy - hello daddy - hello baby' for him when he first got it so thinks he has to now even though he always has this confused look on his face of 'why am I holding this toy to my ear? It doesn't do anything!!!' - it is so sweet. (unless we don't say hello then he gets mad at us..hahah)

Oh yeah and the song - welcome to our learning farm, we have lots to show you. Shapes and colors, music too, there's so much to doooo..woh!!..

I'm surprised to read this as all our Vtech things (tablet, laptop, walker, Alfie bear, crawl ball) are very loud at the lowest setting! We found the fisher price ones to be too quiet...especially the smart phone x

:haha: my DH hates that last doooo..oooh!!

My LO always looks at us when opening the yellow door after it says 'peek-a-boo, I see you...because I kept repeating it when she first got it and it made her smile.

WTH? I have the opposite problem. We've had to lay strips of painter's tape over the vtech speakers to try to mute it

The Fisher Price song that is the bane of my existence: Read a book from start to end, turn the page and meet a friend; there's a duck and there's a frog, see the cat, see the dog!

Oh, I totally agree about the phone. I thought the batteries were dying!

And I have the Violet dog too and I think the volume is perfect :P

Oh and with the cookie jar one - the flipping power switch got knocked on on the way home from the grandparents over Xmas... 5 hours in pretty much stationary traffic on the motorway with random outbursts of that flipping flipping song!

I'd like to nominate the vtech ball my mum bought for the most annoying toy - PEEK A BOO! IT'S THE RED CAT! Badly jazzed up mangling of a nursery rhyme... IT'S THE GREEN BIRD!... it's mummy seeking out a screwdriver to take the batteries out!

Never mind a screwdriver I almost took a hammer to singing Alfie and now we've got 3 of the things as they were Christmas presents!!!

Uurgh we have a Vtech teddy lullaby projector - we've never been able to use it at bedtime as even on low volume it shouts 'it's sleepy time' so blooming loud it would wake the dead! I often go to bed still humming the my puppy pal scout song with 'let's wag our tails, wiggle, wiggle, waggle' can i remember any other line though? and it just goes round and round.....
