Hi, very new here. If anyone can fill me in on the abbreviations I'd be much obliged!

We are waiting because I am a welder, excellent money, poor work environment. Luckily I have the best family doctor in the world and he is doing everything in his power to make sure I... We will be healthy. Sending me to specialists (6 week waiting list :-( ), doing research and FORBIDDING trying until all of the facts and stats are known. I'm very greatful! Also very impatient... Hopefully April 2015...

Wow that's one tough environment.. Kudos to you!
I'm new to forums too, so I only know a few abbreviations so far. There are links to whole lists on Google but I've been too lazy to go through them haha. Welcome to BnB! :)

Thanks :)

Yea it can be physically demanding but it's the fumes and chemicals that I (and the horde of doctors investigating this) are worried about. There is a study currently in process at the University of Alberta (Canada) specifically looking into the hazards for females in my trade and pregnancy. But it is ongoing and will be for several years yet, so nothing conclusive...

I wouldn't doubt they would put me on quality control if I requested it, I hear "what would we do without you!" At least twice a week

Oh that's great you have that option then. Is there a reason why you don't want to request that kind of role at least temporarily? Are you exposed to the fumes throughout the day, or just certain periods e.g. when you are at site?

I am in a shop, I am specialized in modifying and repairing oilfield equipment. I can be cleaning and even burning off anything that comes from oil or any compounds used to get it out. Plus what ever gases and toxins from the welding itself. From what my doctor told me from his research there is a 60% fetal loss rate and 25% chance of under-development leading to permanent life long problems if not loss after birth. There is so much I need to be aware of before we start trying :-( we have been discussing a career change, but I am ridiculously good at what I do...

This thread has a huge list of the abbreviations
