I have had a really heavy AF. Today I felt that there was something wrong, and I was very scared. I had big clots about the size of my hand and I was going through a super tampon AND a maxi pad (together) about every 1/2 hour. I was at work and didn't know what to do. Yesterday it was like this too, but not as many clots. I don't know what was up. The cramps were just terrible, and the lady I work with kept telling me that I looked sick (I didn't tell her anything as I am just a temp and I have only been there three days). It seems to have tapered off to what I would consider a normal AF now. I thought I was going to have to go to the hospital today. Has anyone else experienced this? I have always had very heavy AF's, but, this was worse than after I gave birth.

Hi Jasmak,

That does sound excessively heavy to me, especially with the size of the clots. However, with a heavy period there would probably be larger clots as the blood will clot before it has chance to come out. If it was me, I would make a Drs appointment to get this checked out, especially if you are ttc.

I'm with Hays on this one. I think you should go and get it checked out. Its probably nothing but it will put your mind at rest. Good luck. x

That sounds far too heacy - I remember reading something that if you were soaking a towel every hour you need to see someone and you have been worse than that so I think you should see your doc too. Hope you're ok x

I had this when I had a polyp. I can't help wondering if maybe it's the same thing. I think they can pick them up on an internal scan. I was booked for one but mine got so bad they just sorted it with a D & C. Other symptoms I had were bleeding between cycles.

Definitely go and see your GP. :hugs:

Thanks everyone. Well, so far since it has been fine. I never made an appointment because I am at a new job. But, I think things are OK. I do have my lap/hysterscopy/D&C coming up sometime soon, so hopefully if there is anything, they will take care of it then. I will mention it then too. I just hope that the next one isn't like this one!!!
