Am starting my first IUI cycle this month, and knowing how obsesive I can get during normal cycles, I was wondering if anybody had any tips on how they keep their minds occupied on other things during IUI / IVF / ICSI cycles??

All sugestions welcome!

I try to plan events. Like dinner with friends, take a day to work in the yard as much as you can. Just be around people! It makes time go much faster, and it feels SO good to have no thoughts about it all because youre talking about something else.

My plan for this cycle is to NOT TEST. at all. I will not take a test until 2 days after AF is late. That way its not a countdown. If she shows, fine. But I wont be pulling my hair out every test wondering if it was too early!!

Hope this helps

Thanks hun,

I know what you mean about the testing, I too get way out of control with the tests, thinking it might be too early etc - I must waste a load of money on the 'It must be very faint' line!

I planned alot of day trips. You're busy all day and by the time you get home you're too pooped to even think about anything else. I also started reading a couple new books during my IUI cycle.

Some day trips sounds like a plan!

I will have to do all these things I think in order to keep my mind off things.

What a good question, my first IUI cycle is this month too and I'm struggling to even sleep at the moment thinking about it all - good luck nnn84 x

Thanks Vicks! Hope all goes well for you too. I go in for my first scan cd1 on Thursday.
Will you be taking any meds on your IUI or are you doing the cycle naturally?

I am taking Clomid and also the Gonal F pens, started the Clomid yesterday and having training for the pens tonight, I should start to do them on Wednesday. I should then have my scan next Monday and hopefully the IUI at the end of next week. Are you taking any meds?

i start stimming tomorrow, it helps that i work full time this week
and for the weekend we have things planned as well, then monday echo,
and have to prepare our spare room for my cousin who comes for sleepover,
after that probably pick-up (EC), work, then transfer... then 5 days that i don't know
how to fill yet and then holiday for a week to go visit my brother who lives abroad.
and the day after we come back i can go for bloods to see if it's a sticky bean or not,
although i'll probably test the last day of our holiday too so i can tell my bro in person
if it's BFP

so yeah... keep busy... great time to redecorate, reorganise, do a midsummerclean
visit friends and family (grandparents especially can easily entertain you all afternoon and evening haha)

Hi vicks78, yeah I will be starting the injections on Friday. I will be taking Gonal F and Supercur. How did your injection training go? Does it look awful?

Hi tinybutterfly, Good luck with the IVF hun! Hope it's a sticky bean for you! Yeah I think I am deff going to have to fill my diary up with lots of stuff to do.

Mine start tomorrow, training was ok although it was given by my neighbour who is the fertility nurse!!! They gave me a DVD as well so in case I forget anything I can look it up on there, I think I'll be ok setting the pens up with the right dosage I just need to be brave enough to stick it in!! What dosage did they give you for the Gonal F, I'm on 150. Have they mentioned any training for you?

Stalking this thread as I'm hoping to begin IVF in a couple of months. Already learnt loads from you lovely ladies
