with Rhys we did baby led weaning because he didnt take to being fed off a spoon, hes never been a great eater and mealtimes have always been a struggle. we started weaning him at around 5 months.

but Ffion is different, shes already becoming restless after feeds and is showing signs of needing food. this worrys me because rhys wasnt weaned till 5 months, is it too early to start with Ffion?

Sounds very early. Have you spoken to your HV?

Try waiting a few days, she may be having/about to have a growth spurt. See if she settles down in the next week.

Sam went through a massive growth spurt at Ffion's age... I was constantly feeding him, and just as I'd finish one feed he seemed to be ready for another - it went on for about a week and I thought it was never going to end but things did get back to normal once my supply increased a bit. I'd give it a couple of weeks and just see if things improve x

a week!? :( im so tired.. didnt get to bed till 6.10 am and got up a 7.30 am

she was feeding all night

Urgh...you must be exhausted :(

It got gradually better as the week went on with us, but it did feel like it wasall the time. It should only take a few days for your body to start producing more milk though, so she'll get more in each feed and go longer in between. If you start introducing other stuff now she'll probably end up taking less milk, and you'll produce less (just started Sam on bits of food and he's already feeding less - have been pumping a bottle a day for the freezer!)

Hope it gets better for you soon x x

Hope you had a better night with her!

Not all babies are the same and if you think she is ready to be weaned try her on something like baby rice mixed with milk and take it from there. If she is not ready for it, she will let you know one way or other. Sometimes its just trial and error, but obviously within reason. You wouldnt give a 2 month old chocolate!

Hope she gets better hun

xx

Hope last night was better for you... if it doesn't seem to be getting any better I'd give it another couple of days, but usually when they start feeding so much more it does just take a couple of days to increase your supply so they're getting more at each feed x

Caitlyns having a growth spurt too and it doesn't seem to be stopping! :dohh: I was considering food too but I'm really trying not to.

Really hope it gets better for you soon. You should be producing more milk soon, so she'll eventually be getting more at each feed and you won't have to feed so often. Hopefully it won't take too long for you - I thought Sam's growth spurts were never going to end x

I'd start bytrying her on something a bit more solid than milk. My first didn't wean until quite late but my 2nd needed weaning far earlier. I think its a case of trial and error. Just try a few spoonfuls of something and your bubs will soon let you know whether its time or not.

She may just be eating to suck have you tried a pacifier? A teaspoon of rice cereal in her bottle? Has she ever had a bottle? My first son never had a bottle or pacifier my fault though I waited two weeks try intruduce the plastic options to him...a bit to late.

well girls lastnight was better! she slept from 7pm till 3.30am which was great but has been feeding every half an hour since then

So pleased for you....hopefully it'll keep getting better over the next few days :D x

Oh i'm glad its a bit better for you. She may just be a on a growth spurt, in which case it'll settle down once she adjusts.

Personally I would not put anything other than milk in a bottle. I think 8 weeks is early for weaning, and agree that probably a spurt!
