So we are off to Dubai for 2 weeks next month when Rohan will be just over 6 months. We will be staying at a resort hotel which we've stayed at previously and they have an fantastic buffet every lunch / evening.

Rohan has no teeth at moment and is showing no signs of teething soon, so what types of finger foods would be appropriate which are likely to be available at a hotel buffet please.

Thanks

My Lo has only just got 2 teeth but when he was 6 mo he managed to gum a lot of veg. He loved sliced pepper, cucumber, avocado. If there's any steamed or boiled veg that would be fine. Brocolli and carrots a big hit with Lo. Also fruit is great - Orange wedges, grapes halved, banana slices. Toast with a little unsalted butter. If they have natural yoghurt that would be nice and cool. I'd avoid anything too hard - apples etc as they are beat softened.

Any sort of cooked or raw veg or chunks of meat that are baby hand sized. Also, my experience in the UAE is that there is often lots of nice fruit on those sorts of buffets, so melon, mango, papaya, apple, etc. Dipped in a big of plain yogurt might be nice as well. Salad veg is good too - tomato, cucumbers, etc. Also, if there are any soup/curry like things that aren't too spicy or salty, then that dipped with some crusty bread or spread on baby rice cakes (Boots makes a great salt free, organic baby rice cake that we love). I'd just try lots of things and see what works. The size and shape will matter more than what the actual food it.

Thanks for the comments. He does not sit up himself yet, so have not tried him on any Niger foods for risk of choking.

How large should the pieces be please, I don't want them to be too large that he gags or chokes !

When my LO was your age we moved out to Dubai. Finger foods we did cut into sticks so he could hold and gnaw.

We gave him any veg that was on offer, there tends to be a lot at the buffets here, carrot, brocolli, green beans. There are lots of fruits.

Also don't be afraid to ask for things cut into sticks for you. One thing I've found is that everyone loves babies here and are happy to help. They tend to not understand blw and you'll probably see a lot of TW with a lot of wiping of mouths to keep babies clean?
