Has anyone had or booked there wedding abroad? me and my OH are really wanting to go abroad with a few family and close friends, i just dont know where to start, anyone any ideas, i did get a price from Thomson the travel agents and they wanted near enough £6000 for a 2 week all inclusive holiday for me OH and our 2 kidsincluded the wedding, but doesnt include meals or photographs, we would have to get a more expensive package, and was maybe thinking this was overpriced!

Was just wanting to see if anyone could help me in the right direction?

Thanks

I looked into getting married in Rhodes- and it would of been £750 for the wedding planner, and that included pretty much everything for the ceremony, minister, translating all the forms blah blah blah...
and then we would have just booked the hotel seperatly.
Seemed pretty cheap for a wedding really :) Have a look for independant wedding planners in the place you are thinking of as it may be way cheaper than a travel agents :)

thanks very much, its not for another 2 years but cant get it booked for a year till prices are available! x

We are getting married in Florida next March and booked through Virgin. We are paying £4k for the whole thing and we get loads included in the package but not accomodation however we are getting married in Disney.

We're getting married in Florida in May 2012. We're booking a villa for us, our two LOs, my parents, OHs parents & a few others, then other people coming are either sharing a villa or getting a hotel room. We're getting married at Cypress Grove. I can't wait!

We got married in Key West in Florida last year, Our wedding cost around £300 including flowers, photos and the ceremony etc with a wedding planner called "A simple wedding", it was all so easy and really well organised, all we had to do was turn up at the right time and hope for good weather! We got married on the beach at sunset and it was really romantic. In america, you go to the court house before the wedding day to do all the legal stuff so its really nice because unlike over here it doesn't have to be included in the ceremony.

Obviously we also had the cost of flights and accomodation but I think our flights were around £400 each into miami and we hired a car to drive us all down there, then we hired a town house which was split between us and the other 2 'couples' that were with us so it didn't work out too expensive. We had a huge party when we came home for all the family and friends that couldn't come and I think that probably worked our dearer than the actual wedding by the time we hired a venue and band!

Awww, so many other FL weddings. :)

Miss_D I think £6k is an AMAZING price for a wedding abroad AND honeymoon!! Our honeymoon alone is over £6 and the wedding is a few times dearer than the honeymoon....

Hi

We have booked to marry in the Dominican Republic this September. Hotel is Sirenis suites.
For a family of four of us it cost £2300 for a 2wk all inclusive holiday, the wedding is $650 whcih we pay when we get there (around £375) that included flowers, cake, certificates, and a buffet and champayne on the beach.

We went with Thomas cook as Thompson was alot dearer!

The documents are the worst bit tho! They cost around £1000.

Have a look at a few wedding brochures. Some wedding packages are free with TC, you just pay the minister fee.
Our travel insurance incl wedding was £130.

For the DR you have to buy tourists cards at £10 each and pay $20 each on departure.

There is 17 of us altogether that are going. Family have been getting it for £800 each for 2wks or £570 for one week. Also tell TC that its a wedding and they should give you all a discount.
Feel free to PM if you have any more questions!!

I think you can make it as cheap or expensive as you want,

I got married in Jamaica - Riu Ocho Rios, and the holiday cost was £1067 per person for 2 weeks, 5* AI. The actual wedding day cost £1k for additons, but the only thing you HAD to have was the £150 legal fees, the rest, chanpagne, flowers, steel band etc you could choose if you wanted or not.
With ours, as all our guests were AI the meal was free (champagne extra) and we hired the steakhouse - there was options to have a private function room - but that was extra, and IMO, not worth it. As for photography - i was lucky - my uncle is semi professional, and he took them, we have over 1000 photos, but i can honestly say - some of my favourite are ones taken by friends!

Then i had a proper dress, 3 adult bridesmaids, 2 little ones, and the 4 men had suits - so another £1k

In total - £4k - and a fabuous day

We got married in Austria in 2000 ... the Hotel that we booked with is family run and they sorted everything out ... horse and carriage, wedding in a gorgeous castle, flowers, photographer - whatever we wanted :D

We chose to go by ourselves but the hotel specialises in weddings and plenty of other couples had family and guests with them :D

All in, with a week away, all wedding costs, photographer (including a beautiful album AND the negatives of over 100 pics), spending money, flights, half board PLUS my dress bought in the UK and DH's suit etc it was £5000

The scenery was gorgeous, it was hot but not too hot iykwim and it was very, very special :D

Im getting married in florida October 1st 2010, we have paid £750 for everything. I booked this through destination occasions - they only do florida weddings though.

HTH x
