Hi ladies,

I'm currently on a mega diet after 5 unsuccessful months of clomid (only made me ov twice).

FS told me that I needed to loose weight before he would start treating me with FSH injections in September.

For the first time in 2 years I have no ttc to think about, and I've 7 weeks left before I see the FS again and need something else to inspire me to get off the sofa and into the gym :winkwink:

Just wondering if anyone has lost weight and found it's made a big difference to ov or cycle length or their ttc success? I have PCOS so weight is a big issue with me

Don't want to read and run. I was diagnosed officially with pcos today and weight is an issue for me too. I have known a number of people who have lost weight and who conceived naturally so Im sure it must help. I also read a website today that the best treatment for pcos is to loose weight.

Best wishes and I hope it goes well.

:hugs2:

I never lose enough to find out! Come and join us on the pcos and weight loss thread hon :)

Honey I just wanted to add another perspective. I have weight to lose too, and was told if I lost weight it would greatly increase my chances of conceiving. But after a Lap and Dye test they've found both my tubes to be blocked, so I could have gotten down to a real skinny minny and it wouldn't have made a lick of difference. But weight loss is good for a lot fo reasons, just make sure they check everything too, and not just pin point your infertility to a weight issue without ruling out everything else. I had to demand they do a lap and dye test, as they were just going to keep me on clomid and see how I go....

Heh Hun, don't have pcos but have always been a bit curvalivious!!

FS informed us no ivf until I've shed 3st and I've lost 2 so far with our appt in 7 weeks. My cycle length seems to have levelled out and so has my ovulation day which is pretty regular! I feel pretty fantastic too so v pleased I have lost the weight :happydance:

I really think having a healthy body increases your fertility aside form the fact that it boosts your sexual appetite. Althought there are some overweight women that get pregnant, it is still best to have a healthy body when you're trying to get pregnant.

Oh snap, I need to loose a stone in about 7 weeks aswell. I'll race you lol:thumbup:

My sis is a personal trainer (yet I'm still too fat to have babies :dohh:) so for almost 3 weeks now she has been half killing me and hubby in the gym 3 times a week and I'm definitely feeling better for it. I'm losing weight, toning up and have tons more energy - why didn't I do this years ago!!

Hi Ireland!
NJ here. I am overweight, had lapband surgery 1 year ago next month. Had 100 pounds to lose, have lost 40 so far. My cycles were so so messed up and I never o'd. I am now completely regular on cycles. I am going to an RE, my problem now is low estrogen. Tubes are fine, dh's sperm is fine. My lining is a little thick, but my follies are growing. I am doing IUI with Gonal F this next week.
Losing weight does help regulate cycles, alot of times, helps you o also, but sometimes it doesnt.
Let's just say it does help.
Good luck and I am here for you!
Michaele

Well I'm about to start trying to lose weight for 4 months time when I start clomid, I'm aware that it can help a lot due to the positive mental state you get into when your losing even a lb a week etc. If your bmi's a bit high, any weight loss helps sweetie x
