Hi Ladies,

I'm not sure where this topic could go, but I'm hoping breastfeeding may be the way to go. I have a strange scenario. I stayed the same weight throughout my pregnancy, give or take 6 lbs or so (my baby was 9 lbs). I was really happy that I had lost 30 lbs in addition to the baby weight I had acquired as soon as my daughter was born. My weight loss continued for several months afterwards until my milk supply started dwindling due to stress trying to breastpump at work. I started supplementing with Fenugreek and Mother's Love products to increase my supply. After about a month of being on this regimen, I started to gain weight at an accelerated rate. I stopped taking the breast milk supply products but my weight gain has continued despite making efforts to curb it, such as exercising and eating less and/or healthier choices.

Since a series of unfortunate events led to weaning, the weight gain increased even more. I know it must be my hormones to a certain degree, but I'm 16 months postpartum and 30lbs heavier! I feel as though I cheated the whole pregnancy weight gain, only to have it creep up after the baby was born. It makes me so depressed. I have horrible insomnia and anxiety and I feel completely out of control. Has this happened to anyone, and if so, how did you get control of your body again. Any insights are appreciated!

P.S. I have gone to my doctor about 6 months ago and I had "borderline Hypothyroidism." She prescribed anti-anxiety medication that causes more weight gain. :dohh:

I would go back and try to get in with a specialist because sometimes the hypothyroidism is a bit more complicated that the regular dr can diagnose

I am sort of in the same boat. I have dermoid cysts that may explain the weight gain and I am have surgery in the next few weeks but I am also having thyroid test too. I don't have an answer. How is your insulin ? Have you been tested for diabetes?

No diabetes. I did develop a fibroid after my first cesarean. My stomach is very distended from diastatis recti. I have no idea what's going on but it looks as though I may be eligible to become a sumo wrestler if my weight gain continues. Thank you for your reply!

I'm thinking I'll probably need to see a few specialists. I was hoping this scenario happened to others and there was some easy fix. I guess there's no easy fix...
