I went into the hospital at 5am on August 5th, bleeding from a ruptured abscess down below. I had to undergo surgery later that evening to completely drain it so we didn't risk further infection. In the meantime, they discovered baby's heart rate kept dropping, so they decided they were going to admit me just to monitor it overnight. I started getting strong contractions before I was even prepped for surgery. When they checked me that morning I was only 1cm dilated. When I went in for the surgery, I was already 3cm. After surgery, the contractions were worse and his heart rate dropped more frequently (they had me get on my hands and knees each time, to bring his heart rate back up). They started talking about inducing me the next day. Well the next day arrived and the problems with his heart rate were still going on, but by then they had discovered they occurred with each contraction. That's when they decided that inducing me wasn't going to be a safe option. They scheduled me for an urgent c-section. By 5:04pm, my little boy took his first breath of air. It was the scariest, blurriest 2 days of my life...but it was definitely the most rewarding! Jackson Isaiah weighed in at 6 lbs 4 oz, 19 inches long...and was 5 weeks premature! I can only imagine how big he would have been if he made it to his due date! Yikes!!!
