So Im staring to get major muffin top in my regular pants (not to mention uncomfy), and the hairband through the loop and over the button maneuver is just too weird for me and the bella band is too big and does nothing for me despite being one size fits most. So I go to the mall to the maternity store, nope, maternity pants with a full panel too big. Maternity pants with an underbelly panel literally give me plumbers butt if I bend over (NOT attractive for a pregnant woman over 40 :nope: )

So I mull over getting normal no pregnant pants a size larger, but don't want to spend a fortune. Then I contemplate sitting at home for the next 2 months in my yoga pants until I can fit into maternity clothes since I don't want a full range of sizes in my closet by the time this is all done (although that may not be such a bad idea)

SO, for those of you gals in the US I pass Kohls while sulking on the way home and decide to stop if for nothing more than a new pair of comfy yoga pants and JACKPOT!! Jennifer Lopez (love her or hate her) has a new line of cute stylish affordable clothes at Kohls that IMHO are very pregnancy friendly (the tops anyway) They are longer than most tops and fit really well. So I picked up a few tops (which seem like they will get me through this pregnancy) and a pair of leggings and a pair of jeans in one size bigger than my normal size with a low rise (but no butt show) and they're perfect!!

Anyone else having clothing issues at the moment?? I swear there is no WORSE feeling than an ill fitting outfit. :happydance:

thanks for the tip! i am getting a bit of afternoon muffin top. i wake up pretty flat...then i just sort of poof out midday. I have contemplated what my wardrobe approach will be. i am 34 and work in an office setting. I am thinking about getting a few comfy dresses. I am guessing my 50 pencil skirts are not going suffice much longer. It is also getting cold in these parts, so I can start to layer. But for now...i am going to squeeze in my regulars for as long as possible.. (My jeans, sadly, already got the boot). Now, if I can just figure out a bra situation to keep my massive boobies under control...:laundry:

Oh, the boobs needed immediate intervention for me at 8 weeks. I already went up a cup size by then. It was pure torture trying on new bras at a time when they were SO sore. I felt like I just wanted to string/sling them up in an ace bandage and be done with it. They've settled a bit in soreness now but still feel gargantuan.

I think for an office setting a few dresses will be perfect and go a long way!

This is baby #2 for me, so I've been seriously bloated since week 5! I look 5 months pregnant instead of 3 now, but I have gained way too much weight (quit smoking, early hormones from hell, etc.). I love the underbelly maternity pants and they fit well, which surprises me with my ample backside. Those are also perfect for post-natal comfort, especially since I'm pretty sure I'll have another c-section.

I love Kohl's for their prices and the awesome coupons! I was going to suggest leggings for you. Also, you can wear yoga pants most places other than work and pull it off with a cute athletic top or sweatshirt. I saw some of J-Lo's stuff on Entertainment Tonight and it looked really nice. The great thing about non-maternity stuff is you can wear it later and even though you wore it during pregnancy, no one will know. :)

Thanks! I so badly want to wear the underbelly jeans as they look so comfy and I found a really cute pair I like but they are not working for me. At least now they're not but maybe in a little bit. Since this is my first I guess I never thought about the awkward stage between gaining a belly but not quite looking pregnant yet.

Ah well, this too will pass as I'm already over it lol. I was very hormonal this afternoon. Thanks for listening and suggesting! :hugs:

|I've had to resort to the maternity clothes, I'm not the skinniest at the best of times and the last couple of days I seem to have developed the world's tiniest bump sitting under my usual flab! You're right about the bum tho with lowrise jeans, I try not to bend over in mine unless I have a seriously long top on! xx

sewergrrl -- good girl for quitting smoking! I did as well, back in Jan-March, but have a minor craving for smokes (fortunately, a co-worker smokes and I can walk by and smell...)
I also lost weight, but still have my 'fat girl' clothes around, mainly big, comfy jumpers, so for the moment am ok with clothes. Actually, now I can wear a lot of smaller clothes as have a bump and don't need to button at the tummy, so can wear (does that make sense)? I also got bra extenders to put in the back of my bras, which make them a bit more comfortable BUT...my big problem is I am petite, and finding inexpensive clothes that don't fall to my knees and beyond is really hard. Am going to knit myself a quick superchunky poncho (my knitting is limited to scarves and blankets) as not happy with many maternity clothes..

best wishes

No bump yet, but I had a really bloated uncomfortable day on Friday that was the precurser of things to come soon, and it'll probably happen sooner than I think so I am preparing.

I have a few old pants and skirts that are on their last legs and would have been slotted to the Goodwill pile soon, so I am just getting them altered (putting in elastic). Figure that will hold me for a few months until I need real maternity clothes. It will pretty much ruin the clothes in the long term but since they're old I don't mind.

Thx for Kohls recommendation! We don't have it here in Canada (I don't think), but I'm sure others will appreciate the recommendation. In addition, I read in an article about budget-friendly maternity clothes that Old Navy is a great bet, some stores have maternity sections and even their non-maternity section is forgiving (I am an Old Navy addict).

I'm 19 weeks and just starting to show but have been in maternity pants the last couple of weeks due to the "hardening" of my abdomen. Have you guys tried rolling over the tops of those full panel pants? For example, a pair of shorts I've been wearing has a 2-3 inch stretchy fabric panel with elastic on top and I have been folding it over and they have been sooo comfortable! I've done that with the shorts and a couple pairs of jeans.

I'm also the type that doesn't like things pressing on my middle (never been a "mom jeans" type of girl) so I'm hoping I can use this method for quite some time.

Good luck and congrats!

Me. I've already had to "store for the duration" three pair of work appropriate slacks. I went to my mother's house and raided her closet. She is a couple of sizes larger than me and works out of her home so she doesn't need the absolutely lovely dress casual wardrobe she spent a fortune acquiring.
Hopefully that'll get me through for a few months until I have no choice but to buy the panel type maternity pants.

Craigslist is a great place to find maternity clothes. Since they're worn for such a short time the clothes are often in really good shape and the prices are so much better than at the shops! I paid $28 for one pair of capris from Target versus $30 for 3 pairs of slacks, 2 capris and 2 tops from Craigslist! If you have the energy garage sales can also be a good place, my only problem has been I started out as a bigger gal and most of the clothes I've seen at garage sales have been small/medium :-( Being bigger to start with I've got a lot of empire waist tops so those are working for now. Couple more months though and I'm sure those will be too snug!
