Some people have quite cool stories about how they ended up naming their child or about the meaning of the name...

So what are your LO's names? Why did you call them that and is there any special meaning? :baby: :flower:

no special meaning really. We just both really liked the name Hannah

We both liked it, it's my husband's middle name and it's also a name that is in the family. Also, we had to change my son's name at the last minute as someone took the name we originally chose, so when he was born we had 3 names to pick from. We decided he looked like a Joseph! :D xx

Archie Daniel :D
No special reason for Archie just both love the name and love the fact we dont know anyone else called it. And Daniel is OH middle name aswell :)

this is just the sort of thread i was looking for! We havent had our little girl yet and its not absolutely decided on first name but we think we are going to go for:
Sophia Amy, my wedding dress was by Daniel Peters and the style was Sophia (do you think that is weird or not? my mum thinks its abit odd) I also like it because its not really common but not really far out either, and Amy as a middle name as our friend lost her 2 year battle with Leukaemia a few months ago so we'd like to honour her in some way.

I think they are lovely reasons to name your daughter Sophia Amy . xx

I potentially want Madeleine May for this one. Madeleine after my nan who was like a mum to me when i was a little girl, and May was my nan who died last years middle name, so to honour her. (I would use her first name but she hated it and never used it herself, so i dont think she'd be very happy if i inflicted her first name on a child :nope:). P.s, I also really like the name, which is a bonus , now just need to convince DH :growlmad:.

We only chose Alyssa because we wanted something girly, not too common but not too unusual, but she will have Magdalena-Jane as a middle name, wanted something with meaning there, Magdalena after my mum who passed away when i was a child and Jane my OHs mum whos been brilliant to me, kinda like a second mum :) x

Can I ask how you pronounce Magdalena? Like Magdalen College with an A at the end?
I think that's a lovely name by the way and a beautiful way to honour your mums!

its pronounced like magda-lay-na :) thanks i want her to have a middle name with true meaning behind it x

I named my son, Marley after Bob Marley , his middle name Darien because it means "gift", and Skye because his dad picked it out, and I thought he would like some say :dohh:

The name Ethan was on our shortlist before he was born but we waited to decide for sure until he was born and we could see what he looked like and what suited him. Plus it means "strong/enduring" which seemed appropriate (he was 15 days late, I was induced over 2 days, in labour for 10 hours then had forceps, ventouse and then emergency section!).

His middle name is George which is after my grandad, and it is a family name which has been in every generation of my family for goodness knows how long. :-)

My OH made Maley (pronounced May-lee) up! Cross between Miley (RunDMC's daughter) and Malea (prounced Ma-leah) (Barack Obama's daughter)

Leo was my grandad's name. and George is OH's middle name.
Wanted to make sure the name meant something to us/me x

Someone i know had a little girl about 4 years ago and named her Brooke and ever since then i have loved that name, even though i never see them anymore.

So thats how the name Brooke came to be on our shortlist and it was the only one me and OH could 100% agree we were happy with
