So my mother in law is a "natural" obsessed person and she is always pushing probiotics on my daughter, who is almost 4.....I just don't think she should be giving my daughter stuff without my permission....but what is everyones thoughts on probiotics for kids without doctor recommendation?

I have been giving my 1 and 3 year old Natures Way Reuteri probiotic, the powder form and we dodged the flu even when we were on vacation when everyone else had it. I love this probiotic.

They're great if you have stomach problems. Healthy bacteria can help waylay a lot of common sicknesses that pass around a classroom. They're not harmful, but if you don't want your Mom giving them to your daughter, you should just say so. There are worse things your Mom could be giving her! :haha:

probiotics do weird things to me.ive felt unwell taking it and had really bad sleep paralysis after eating it in youghurts so personally im not sure if i would give it to a child.

I def think you should discuss anything like that with your pediatrician first before giving. We asked about chewable vitamins, what age to start them at, and our pediatrician said not to for a few years at least. She said its better to just include all the necessary foods in teh diet, because the vitamins don't get absorbed properly or can be too much for children, even at proper dosage. Some kids just react differently to things like that.

if she would be sick okay, but without a reason i wouldnt give it to my child. i see no need in it. you should tell her no if you dont want to. also maybe call her pediatricians office and talk to them?

I will be giving my daughter probiotics, probably in the form of yogurt or cultured milk when she is old enough. So good for everybodys, body. I eat it daily. Helps your body break down food, makes your digestion better, and helps your immune system.
