Im still entitled to maternity allowance until november but as i am self employed i have had to return to mornings a week already. Im close to using up the 10 days you are allowed to work whilst still claiming MA and to be honest my heart isn't in the job anymore.

If i didn't return to work in november would i get income support or do they expect you to look for a job and claim jsa ?

My partner works although he only earns around £12 pa, also self employed last year as i didn't make a profit from my business so we get £250 per month working tax. If i stop working will this go up/down or stay the same ?

I know everyone situation is different so i guess what im asking is if you didn't return to work were you better/worse off ?

Thanks x

if your OH gets 12000 and you dont return to work you can definitely claim more tax credits not sure about anything else though

I havent gone back to work and get nothing, the usual tax credits but nothing 'because' I havent gone back. ATM I claim JSA as I am looking for work but I only get that til october. If I've not found a job when that stops then its just tough we get nothing.

we've actually considered Mark quitting work as we'd get loads more than we get no with his wage, but I couldnt do it, its not a fair way to go about things, if that makes sense

Thanks,

I am going to call tax credits and see what they say, looks like I will have to go back :(

its done to encourage people back to work
