Well kind of what it says in the title really!
I have my first fs apt on thurs after almost 3 yrs TTC (in Oct) and 2 losses in 2010 (miscarriage at 9+4 weeks + ectopic at 5+6 weeks).

I am very overweight so know they focus on that and ask me to lose weight but what other things do they check?

I am hoping that they will check my remaining tube is ok. Was fine during op to remove my tube from ectopic but am scared scar tissue from the op itself could have affected it?

Any thoughts/advice would be greatly appreciated. xx

I had mine today. We were kept waiting for 50 min for an appointment that lasted 20 mins max.

The doc basically took medical history of me and my hubby, and gave us time scale and percentages.

I will get 3 shots at IUI from next August and will get 2 shots of IVF from April 2013!! The success rates are awful. IUI is 12% and IVF around 30%.

P.S. sorry forgot the rest. Basically at the moment ours looks unexplained, I have been referred for a lap and dye to check tubes as that is the only possibility that they will check at this stage.

I wonder how the weight thing really is that big a deal- on the basis that you have previously been pregnant. So you obviously are capable of conceiving but you need help to maintain it. it must be something to do with should you need surgery. Not a clue. I had an obese friend who had a pretty similar story to yours and conceived naturally without help after a miscarriage and ectopic. Gave birth to a perfectly healthy child. We on the other hand a reasonably fit, normal weight etc etc and have never once conceived.

Sorry to hear about your losses OP. Are you in the UK? If so, the usual process is that they do more blood tests, a ultrasound and a HSG to check if yuor remaining tube is ok. As you are aware, they will probably focus on your weight. I had two early miscarriages in 2009 and when I had my fs appointment all she could focus on was my (low) weight.

Thanks both of you. That is helpful.
I am in the UK. Am not expecting much but am hoping for a weight loss target to focus upon. Could do with a kick up the arse. X
