I think I just got this for the first time ever last night. Due to working long hours, I usually don't get to eat dinner until late. Last night after eating pasta, I went to bed and as soon as I lay down I had this burning feeling in my lower chest, just below my ribs. It went all the way to the back of my throat. Very uncomfortable. It sounds like heartburn and I don't like it! Think it will be happening a lot as I do have to eat dinner so late. What's the best thing to take for it? Cheers!

see your gp, i have had it so bad and ive never ever had it before. Lucky if i go a day without heartburn and its so painful!!! I got gaviscon on repeat prescription from the docs, you should get it free if your pregnant.

Thanks ladies. Come Monday morning, I am calling the GP for the biggest bottle possible!

I only get heartburn when I'm pregnant. The stuff OTC is safe to take right?

yeh i have had gaviscon, was wk 7 when i had real bad and couldnt handle it no more...i think ia asked the same question on here haha um now i just have a small sip of water and lye down if i can and just breath... try and relax, (easier sed than dun i no lol) but also try and think about what you just ate..even if its good for u u may have eaten too much or someting...just something to think about maybe try and keep away from it for a while.. also maybe if ur ging to eat lae have ur main meal of a lunch time and something healthy and little for dinner.. just wat ive been told to do cos im in the same boat...hope u feel better :p

I can't stomach Gaviscon when I'm pg (fine when I'm not!), so I got something else on prescription. They were in tablet form which you chew, and tasted of Butterscotch! Sorry, can't remember what they were called, but they were lovely and your doc/mw should know.

I have been the same. Burning sensation right across upper abdomen. It's so uncomfortable and puts me off eating. Dr advised me to have small frequent meals throuhgout the day as apposed to breakfast, lunch and dinner (easier said than done when you have really bad nausea and sickness!). He did tell me you can take gaviscon when pregnant as well :hugs:

gaviscon - went through it by the jar!! get it from the docs then its free!

I didnt realise you could take gaviscon.

Ive been relying on milk and brushing my teeth, but neither seem to work very well.

Im off to the shops!
