What changes have you made?

I'm 10 weeks pregnant and I'm cutting out so much!

I've cut sushi, tuna, soda, tea, deli meats from my diet. Deli meats and sushi are not cooked thoroughly (or at all), tuna has a high level of mercury and caffiene is correlated to a high percentage of miscarriages.

Also, even though I'm only 10 weeks, I've feel so concious of my stomach, I try not to stretch or do any "sit ups". I know it sounds silly!

What changes have you gals made, if any?

i've cut out alcohol, cut down on coke, and generally started eating more healthily. I'm just a bit worried by something you've said though, is tuna bad for the little'un? I eat quite a lot of tuna, infact, that's the only food i have a craving for. oh god, please don't tell me i've done damage :(

I think its safe to eat two tins of tuna a week? I might be wrong, but its something you can have a bit of weekly x

Didn't wanna read and run... I'm not 100% sure but my midwife said that tuna's fine to eat when pregnant but like most things it has to be in moderation. Like Kiimboowee said, I think it's twice a week

I SURE hope you mean coca cola...

I was thinking the same at first, doubt she's that crazy though :p xxx

true. lol
oh and i forgot-
I've cut out smoking, alcohol (month before i found out), i cut out drugs out of my life about a few weeks before i found out. Caffeine.
I dont know what else.

oh god, i do mean coca cola! i would never do drugs, never in a million years. Thankyou for the advice on tune, too. :)

I havent touched a drop of alcohol since 2 months before i found out i was preg.
I havent ate any seafood, soft cheese, havent had one mr whippy.had no peanuts, rationed tuna..everything your supposed to realy.
dont smoke so that hasnt made a difference.

Cant wait for a big cold glass of wine tho

My hardest thing to cut out was sushi! I've been craving it like crazy. But don't worry, xBumpandLaura I've been craving tuna too. I ate nothing for lunch but tuna sandwiches my fifth and sixth weeks. But now, I'm trying to restrain myself.

I cut out:
-tanning (the tanning salon said it wouldn't harm the baby but I'm worried about all the radiation and stuff and the heat)
-dying my hair blonde (had to I guess for the first bit, plus it's more expensive to maintain than my natural dark brown..)
- alcohol
- cigarettes
- marijuana
- pop, even though i ALWAYS want root beer!!
- deli meats, except cooked turkey .. I'm pretty sure this one is safe
- hot dogs, even though I'd love for one..
- potato chips, popcorn.. no real desire to eat them at all anymore

Ive cut out a few things too, alchol smokin soft cheese deli meats (although i didnt untill i was bout 12 weeks weni had my first midwife app) tuna(as i thought i cudnt have any) but i have been cravin some nd will sure have the recommended two tins a week.

I still drink coca cola how bad am I! I dont exceed my caffieine limit tho.
I diddnt smoke or drink before so that doesnt count. I cut out tuna but still have some sometimes and eggs but thats more because they make me sick now lol:)

Tuna is fine if you eat it sensibly, You can have upto 4 medium cans a week or 2 whole tuna steaks.
Iv stopped eating chocolate, crisps, chips etc, I want to try and stay healthy. Didnt do too well in the first 10 weeks but now its time to change :)!
Xx

I've been craving Mr Whippy icecreams so badly. The stuff out the tub just isn't the same!!

I've cut out all
pop
coffee and tea
soft cheeses
sushi , which I'm finding quiet hard because I LOVE sushi
deli meats
Medium rare steak , but that hasn't been hard because I have no desire to eat red meat anymore .

I didn't smoke or drink before .

these topics always make me wonder when things changed.

When my mum was pregnant with me she basically lived off fried eggs and liver (2 things you should really avoid apparently) and i turned out absolutly fine.
and with my brother she ate lots of differant cheeses and nuts.

I can understand things are bad like alchol, drugs, ciggerettes. but when did people suddenly decide that these certain foods like fish, meats, and cheese become bad for you? surely nowadays its better then it used to because there are stricter food regulations with preperation for when it comes to stuff like pasturising eggs in mayonaise and pasturising cheeses.

Also im doing an assigment for college at the moment on babies and one of the units is about nutrition before 6 months (weaning) and after.
Who agrees with what is said about different foods giving children allergies if fed foods to early

I personally think you are increasing chances of allergies by avoiding the foods and lowering the childrens immunities to them. and alot of articles and text books i have read also say avoiding foods during pregnancy and weaning increases chances of allergies.

Sorry for the long post id just like to hear other peoples views.

That's true, beau_belle. I remember when they said eating a lot of fish was good, that it's supposed to make the baby smart! Now there's mercury in the water...
