I'm hoping to have a vaginal birth, and am expect HER to arrive September 28.... What on earth do I pack for myself bub n hubby?
I'm lost

The hospital should provide diapers, wipes, a onesie, hat, and blanket for baby. I packed WAY too much. All I used was the going home outfit for my son (I wore the same clothes home that I wore to the hospital because I didn't want to ruin any other clothes lol) and snacks. If you plan to formula feed, maybe pack bottles, formula, etc; I'm sure the hospital would provide that stuff if you need it. I breastfeed, so I'm not sure! If your hospital doesn't let you eat during labor or have a room with food that you're free to get at any time, (mine didn't) I would pack lots of snacks and drinks. Pack extra clothes for your DH in case your hospital stay is a few days. Oh- phone, charger, and camera! That's all I needed, but you may also want to take lotion, chap stick, deodorant, (I hope I took that!) etc; If you plan to shower, take extra clothes (my hospital provided shampoo, conditioner, deodorant, soap, toothpaste, toothbrush, mouthwash, baby powder.) I didn't shower because the showers are so tiny and the water only goes to 80 degrees...way too cold for me. lol

I was required to wear a hospital gown during my stay...maybe take a pillow though? I wouldn't take a favorite blanket, it would likely get blood on it and possibly ruined. (I had a vaginal birth with 2nd degree tears...I bled a lot for the first few days) Oh, and soft toilet paper or sanitary wipes! The hospital has toilet paper that feels like sandpaper!

I packed so much and used NONE of it. I don't regret doing it though because it was a nice peace of mind knowing it was there should I need it. But everything happened so fast as I was 8 when I got to triage and 9.5cm when I got to labour ward. So had things happened slower I may have used more of it.

I did use my toiletries though as the midwives ran me a warm bath and god forbid pack some maternity towels and full briefs, I have never been so comfortable, regardless of whether or not they look good lol. I took a dark towel but ended up using theirs because I figured if theirs got Stained instead of mine it was less washing for me to do lol. I also wore my pyjamas home - we left just 5 hours after him being born. But I had enough clothes packed for about a 5 day stay lol. But you never know how things are gonna go so its nice to have it anyway. I had 3 bags, a labour bag, baby's bag and a bag for things I'd need after labour. You can always leave some bags in the car and get them later.

My mum was one of my birthing partners (unplanned, everything happened so fast that she had no time to leave)

i had a flannel packed in my bag and at home throughout labouring, she kept it cool and would wipe my face and neck with it. She did it in the hospital too. It felt really nice and was a great distraction too.

My other necessity was a bottle of water with the sports top. I was so dehydrated from breathing and blowing, also the gas and air really dries your mouth xx
