My lb is almost 9months old now (wow!) Lol he eats about 2/3 meals a day but i feel like hes not eating much SOLID food. he'll eat these rice crackers (rusks?) But other than that is oatmeal or pureed food/mushed food. What else should i give him?

stalking, my lo is younger but I still don't know "how to get there" I am worried he will be on purees forever because I am a scaredy cat that he will choke:haha:

The pamphlet I got from the public health nurse recommends more soft chunks like of peaches bits if bread soft cooked carrots pasta chicken ( just listing off things of the pamphlet) I believe from very puréed feed you just want to gradually getting thicker and chunkier till its a soft solid

If they have teeth cooked chicken like the ones you can buy at the store are great. Soft cooked vegetables, fruits and meat of varying kinds is what my LO eats. Fish is good (salmon in particular) as it is soft and crumbly, and good for their brains :D

I just buy bags of frozen mixed veg (right now we have carrots, peas, sweet corn and green beans) they're already bite sized and the freezing keeps all the vitamins nice and fresh. I just steam a portion of that and she has it for lunch and then gets any leftovers as a snack when we're out.

Fish is also good, tins of tuna (in oil, not brine), or any steamed fish will be nice and soft. I give her soft fruits (berries, banana, melon...), raisins, dried apricots/prunes. Sandwiches always go down well (tuna melt, cheese, chicken...)

she also loves pasta (I boil pasta and any veg all in the one pot until it's nice and soft, drain and lightly mash it with a potato masher, add a bit of tomato puree or pesto (check for salt though) and some spices (oregano and basil)

I also give her bits of whatever we eat if it's not too spicy, or full of salt. She loves a good curry!

We do a mix of spoon feeding and finger foods, she'll usually have finger food for breakfast and lunch, and porridge for dinner...we also give her fruit purees as a snack or with breakfast/as a dessert.

He varies what moods he is in or if teething how much or what types of foods he eats but these are most popular ones

My 9 month old has poridge or weetabix for brekkie with a bit if fruit puree. He has mashed banana and avocado or beans or spaghetti with cheese or brocoli cheese and pasta or just veg mashed for lunch there are loads of different things. Then he will have our meal in the evening. I use my slow cooker quite often as i find this gives them the perfect texture as its soft i do loads of different things in it curry chilli stews/ casseroles goulash there are tons of things. Believe me even with out teeth them gums are very strong!! He loves wotsits too and i find the nuby or munchkin feeder nets brill for fruits like mango strawbs bananas you can put anything in it lol x

I stockpile homemade veg purées for Anna in batches. I use a variety of veg (butternut squash roasted, sweet potato, carrot, parsnip, broccoli, apple) in different combinations and purée/mash them up and freeze them in portions. I use them with pasta, cous cous (made up with a little stock), flaked fish, corned beef etc.
She likes pasta. I buy the packets of Heinz and Boots baby pasta as it's in nice tiny sized pieces. I mix it with veg or a mild pasta sauce (sometimes a normal sauce or sometimes one designed for kids). She also likes scrambled egg with cheese and toast/crumpet fingers with various things on; cheese spread, Marmite, smooth jam etc. a new thing she likes is lemon curd which is spread on toast or brioche.
For finger foods we do toast, rice cakes and the Hipp/Organix snacks and Ella's Kitchen biscuits.
Se LOVES fromage frais and I always make sure I keep the fridge stocked with them and yogurt. She also loves mashed banana.
If she's not keen on a savoury dish I've made, I mix in some homemade apple sauce to sweeten it slightly.
I've bought some cottage cheese, Weetabix and alphabetti spaghetti recently but haven't tried her on them yet. She does like beans (from a tin) which I gently mash and she has this with flaked fish fingers or mashed potato with cheese. She's not too keen on meat but does like mackerel, cod and tuna.
For an easy breakfast I offer her porridge (the dried baby ones that you make up ad lib; Heinz, Ella's, Hipp etc) which she likes. I've recently tried some fruity flavoured ones with small chunks in and to make it more varied I sometimes mix some fruit purée into it (from a pouch or pot).
She's recently tried buttered bread and sandwiches and likes cheese chunks and sucking the seeds and juice out of cherry tomatoes.

Anna's weaned quite slowly and it's taken a long time for her to get into chunks but the more variety I offer her, the better she does. Keep trying different things and try not to worry too much. I freak out massively whenever she gags and I've had a few scares where she's choked on something. Make sure you know what to do if your baby does choke and just take small steps and always make sure you supervise him and you should be fine :)
