My oldest will be 6 in September so is growing out of the more babyish toys he used to like, e.g. Train tracks. None of them particularly like pretend play. They're outdoorsy and do like playing in the garden. Inside though they're always asking for tv and mario kart when they come home. What things do your older children do? I prefer options where I can supervise rather than being needed all the time as it's often a time I'm cooking etc. Or should I just let them watch tv?! I don't know whether I'm a mean mummy sometimes!

Mostly Complain :haha: this after school I just let him chill. If he wants to swing that's fine if he wants TV that's also fine

After a day of work I do not want to follow a plan so I assume he doesnt

My 6yr old has dancing 4 nights a week. Tues/Wed/Thursday we literally get in, she does a tiny bit of homework and then gets changed and something to eat and then we have to leave. (btw she absolutely loves it and wouldn't have it any other way)
On a Friday, her dancing is 6-9pm so she will come home and draw, watch her tablet, she sometimes plays with her sisters with the lego or playmobil etc.
Monday is the only day she doesn't have dance, so she gets most of her homework done (takes around 30 minutes) and then will just do same as above. She might have her friend over for a bit, play outside, we all play board games together.. she isn't one for just sitting watching tv all day and is always looking for something to do.

Monday night is English homework normally followed by chilling out however she choses as they go swimming on the afternoon and shes normally knackered.
Tuesday, if its nice she plays in the garden, otherwise on the nintendo or the PC
Wednesday she does and after school yoga thing
Thursday she's there will 5:15 at after school club
Friday much the same as Tuesday.
Saturday shes at theatre school 10-2 in the afternoon she does maths homework
Sunday is her 'day off' :D

A mix of tv, maybe an after school club depending on what's on that term, out to play with their friends, homework, play together etc. It all just depends.

Mine usually want to just come home, have their snack and relax. That usually means xbox, tv or just random playing. Especially Dominic is not keen on going out anywhere after school.

Think I should just relax a bit more then! He is starting beavers in September so he will have beavers on Tuesday and football on Friday, Wednesday and Thursday he foes to grandmas while I work so Monday is the only day at home.

I'm with mostly complain

We have days they are allowed ipods and days of NO ipods to break things up which is when they will read, draw etc. Some days I just pull out arts crafts stuff and they can do what they want, we have a Toucan box delivered every 2 weeks also. If nice they place outside in the garden. I don't mind TV time when I'm busy and I try to sit and play games with them but admit I suck at making that time and kick myself.

They have 2 after school clubs
1 at school sports fun days on Thursdays
1 out of school junior gym sessions
Hoping to start dance classes in the new school term

Worth seeing what clubs the school have.

DD has rainbows on a Tuesday and swimming on a Friday. The other days she'll sometimes have friends to play or go to friends houses. Sometimes she just wants to relax watching TV or on her tablet, which I don't mind when she's been at school all day and is tired. Sometimes, but not as often she likes to play with toys, but prefers to do that when she had someone to play with her, either a friend or me!

Mine usually wants to stuff his face with food (lol always comes back from school 'starving') then he goes out on his bike, he just rides it up and down the front of the house, usually with the neighbours children too, when he gets tired he comes in and generally watches tv and plays with toys.

Mine are out of school now but most days they would come home, have a snack and go straight out back weather permitting. In the spring when it was muddier we went on a lot of walks/bike rides after school instead. On the rare occasion we had to stay indoors they would play downstairs in their playroom (doing who knows what :haha:) or we would play board games or something. We rarely have the TV on and my kids don't actually own electronics of their own. ETA Mine are a bit older. My eldest is almost 9 and my youngest just turned 5 so I can leave them to play. And also my kitchen faces the backyard so they can play out there while I work on dinner which is very helpful

Lucas still plays with toys so he'll usually entertain himself for a while. I have no chance of getting him into after school clubs or classes, he just refuses (and the limited experience we have of trying to get him to mix with kids he doesn't know has ended in meltdowns every time).
Sometimes we go the local park with his bike, and depending on his behaviour he gets around an hour of screen time so TV/laptop/DS. When he complains of boredom he gets handed a spray bottle and a cloth :haha:

Monday- swimming lessons
Tuesday- whatever they want. Lego is very popular, playing in the garden, park, crafts, making things with paper and a stapler (DS's favourite activity :haha:), the older 2 usually play together/wind each other up.
Wednesday- Same.
Thursday- Beavers for DS, some weeks I have his 3 little buddies who he goes to Beavers with back to the house for a play, tea and trashing of my house before Beavers
Friday- The same as Tuesday & Wednesday, although I try to arrange a play date or a park trip if we haven't had his Beavers friends over the day before.

I'm really lucky that my kids really like making stuff, junk modelling, crafts, painting etc and will get on with that while I make dinner. They play well together quite often too, especially if I send them off upstairs where I can't hear them complaining about each other :winkwink:

At the moment they both play outside/inside. They tend to watch a bit of tv just before bed (although I know it's the worst time of day for it!)

I am going to see how DD transitions to school life, going from 2.5 days to 5 full days is a lot for a 5 year old. Hopefully she'll join rainbows and I'd love to start swimming lessons but she hates the water! Maybe gymnastics but with a 3 year old it's not going to be easy and I'll need somewhere I can leave her (which I'm not sure about tbh)

Monday-Wednesday mine are at my mums house with their cousins so they all occupy themselves/each other. On a Thursday and Friday if it's dry they usually play out with the other kids in the street. They do sometimes watch TV which I don't like but I find it hard to motivate my oldest sometimes after a day at school. We've started having a school friend over fairly often too which helps a lot

My daughter is 6

Monday - indoor rock climbing
Tuesday - acrobatic gymnastics
Wed- free evening so either go to a friend's or stay home
Thursday - swimming lessons
Friday - gymnastics with school but it finishes this week so will soon be a free afternoon and we don't go anywhere as I work Friday nights

When she next goes up in her swimming class it will switch to Friday's and she wants to do either street dance or MMA instead on thursdays

We keep busy but that's what she loves to do.
