im not weaning nicole, got another 3 mths to go yet but i am thinking of the future. what food can u give and are any off limits? are certain veg a no no, cabbage etc. are adult cereals ok? baby drinks or just water? yoghurts as in petit fleur?

sorry for all the questions lol.

thanks ladies

I give aiden petit feleu i think they app are sugery but he loves em, i give these if i run outta baby porridge - aiden loves heinz banana cereal and porridge. i would start with the baby cereals, think adult ones are alot chunkier, need to get used to the mouth actions lol, so those and purees, sweet pot / roasted carrot / parsnip / apple and pear / avocado i have read bt not tried yet. Think have to be careful with eggs and no shellfish, but all the usual home foods ie spag bol / dinners puree'd are ok. xxx

thanks so much. its been 12 yrs since i last did it so abit rusty

I know jars are frowned upon by HV as is everything lol but aiden loves em, so thats good enough for me, when hes older he will eat with us etc and i can monitor whats going in - he only has half a jar and i get the healthiest ones i can see too :) xxx

just back from hv who wants me to start nicole on food in 2 weeks time when shes 4mths. she told me what i can give but the list of no no foods is longgggggg.

no bread, pasta, wheat, rye, oats, barley and all breakfast cereals except baby rice.
cows milk.
all dairy products cheese, yogurts, fromage frais, butter etc
whole nuts and peanuts
eggs
oranges and citrus fruits

i understand and get the no to cows milk and nuts but why no to the others. does anyone know?

No breads and pasta and such because they can contain wheat and that may trigger a gluten allergy. Baby rice is the first cereal they should try. Its the easiest to digest. They don't want you to introduce eggs to a 4 month old, but its okay for 6 months and up. All of the things on that are safe after 6 months except nuts (I would wait till 7-8 months to introduce peanut butter etc.) (Cow milk may be mixed in with foods, but not to drink) You should just stick to simple fruits and veggies for now... (banana, apples, pears, carrots, sweet potatoes, green beans, peas, squash, etc)

thanks. looking forward to cooking using the basic foods, better get in a bit more than needed, i have a habit of "taste testing" lol

Lol. Good luck with weaning. Its fun and you really start seeing your babies personality, when they start picking what they like and don't like.
