So im a little behind the times since my son is 13 years old - But when he was teething as a baby I used to use bonjela or calgel and then pop his dummy in straight after putting it on his gums, it gave him so much relief! :baby:

Im 23 weeks pg with LO at the moment and im having terrible wisdom tooth pain so I thought I might try some calgel only I couldnt find it in the supermarket - all I could find is bonjela which clearly said on it ADULTS ONLY! (it never did before)

Well, I was shocked! Did they find something bad? and what is everyone using these days to comfort their baby while teething? I know there is teething rings etc.. I asked my mum about it and she said "I have no idea I used to use wisky on yours" LOL..... ooh how times keep changing!!:haha:

My local boots have both of these on their shelves, maybe try somewhere else hun. Hope you feel better soon with the pain.x

We've bought baby bonjela and calgel lately, so it must just not have been stocked where you were! Hope you're feeling better soon!

PS I also use teething granuals, also available at mynlocal boots

PPS, I don't work for boots, it's just where I get everything haha

I have some baby bonjela for when LO starts teething, they probably just didn't have it in stock. I also have some Ashton and parsons teething powder which a lot of people seem to recommend.

There was something in the papers a couple of years back about regular bonjela (now labelled for adults only) because it contains something like aspirin (a non-no for children)

Adult bonjela I think has a form of salicylate (aspirin) in which cannot be given to babies because of the risk of Reye's syndrome (I think they changed the age for bonjela about 3/4 years ago, aspirin went a while back). They now make baby bonjela for teething without this. Calgel is still on the shelves here!

HTH x

It may be in a different section. My supermarket used to have it all together in the medicine aisle but they now have a seperate area for baby medication in the baby aisle

I've bought some bonjela gel for my son last week in boots, they also had calgel x

I find anbesol better as it goes straight into the gum, rather than sliding off like the gel does. I also use teething powder. I'm using Nelsons teetha at the mo. it's just as good as Ashton's and parsons, it just doesn't have the rep.

I've got baby Bonjela for LO and adult Bonjela for my wisdom tooth pain!

To the OP just as a warning my chemist told me that I wasnt allowed to take bonjela myself when I was pregnant-perhaps because of the asprin.

My local supermarket does bongela and calgel for babies but its not usually stocked with the adult bongela its usually in the baby isle so your supermarket might do it down the baby isle if not a chemist will
