I'm finally packing for the hospital and I'm not sure what to pack for baby. Does anyone know what the hospital will provide..diapers, wipes, ect? I live in Mississippi and I know all hospitals do things differently. And ideas?

ours don't give you anything at all. i would ask if i were you.

I'd def ask to make sure. The hospital I delivered my boys in provided everything - diapers, wipes, pacifier, blankets, hats etc. and encouraged us to take home any leftovers. But they're definitely all different so I'd ask your hospital to see :)

Mine provides everything for baby...t-shirts, blankets, diapers, wipes, pacifiers, bottles of formula if you aren't breastfeeding, hats...I am not sure about scratch mittens though. I would see if your hospital does tours, I just went on mine and they let me know exactly what I would need to bring :)

I would call Labor and Delivery. They will have the answer.

I just moved to Mississippi, What part are you in?

My hospital provides formula or use of a breast pump nappies and cotton wool and a blanket thats it

Calling would be best. Some offer nothing, but mine offers pacifier, bottle, one t-shirt, a couple diapers and wipes, a bulb syringe and a blanket. I think... They told us when we toured the labor and delivery ward. But I forget. haha.

Really?
was it a hospital in Glasgow? Mine provided everyting PRMH.

yip going to the southern much to my dislike would rather be at home, but anyways. wouldn't personally touch the PRMH after the hell we have been through there, but know they provide alot.

Best thing to do would be to ask, each hospital is different. Mine supplies formula, baby clothes.. But no nappies or wipes/cotton wool.

All my hospital provided when I had Isabelle was a bedside plastic cot with sheet and a blanket, 2 towels (but I personally wished I'd brought my own for her as they had seen better days and were all rough) and a plastic dish with a few cotton wool balls

Xx

when I had my son I received a lot... I had a bag for me, a shoulder bag that contained the undies/pads, slippers, squirt bottle thing for rinsing. Then a bag for baby, which was a gerber diaper bag, in it was a bib, onesie, formula (even tho I was breastfeeding) nipples, bottle, a small pack of diapers, wipes, nose sucky thing, 2 hats and a hospital tshirt. plus they had me take all the recieving blankets in my babies cart thing, and the remaining diapers. It was a lot of stuff, much more than I got at the hospital I delivered my daughter at... but I got a lot of stuff for her too. you might be able to sign up for Enfamils healthy start, and get a coupon thing in the mail that you bring to the hospital with you, to receive a free diaper bag filled with goodies.

Many US hospitals provide everything you need.
I know in Maryland all I need to bring is my things, like my clothes
Toothbrush and so on.
They provide pads and everything I'll need afterwards.
And a going home oufit for baby.

Mine provides everything, onesies, shirts, diapers, wipes, bathing stuff, hats, blankets, and we can take it all home. They even provide lots of stuff for moms too, like disposable undies and maternity pads. Plus after birth you get to order a fancy meal, served on china, and you get champange. lol

when I had my youngest dd almost 7 yrs ago they supplied the diapers (but I just took them home for later use and I used my own cuz she was only 4lbs and the ones they supplied were a size 1), wipes, bulb syringe (its the one they used for suctioning after her head emerged), shirts (for in hospital use and again I used the ones I got for her because the ones they supplied were ginormous on her), receiving blankets (not for the taking but people take anyway), a hat, and a few other things plus the freebies from the formula companies. They let me pick which one I wanted so I picked the Similac bag but they gave me Carnation (now Gerber) Good Start formula but told them no way cuz that stuff tore up my sons tummy and got the Similac Jbut I was BFing so it didn't really matter) and they gave me the Enfamil bag too because I had so much stuff to take home...lol not sure what freebies you get anymore but I've seen a lot of the Gerber Good Start Slings (doesn't surprise me being that is the only formula WIC provides in the area)

deff a good one to give them a ring about. I have delivered at two different hospitals and both mine gave out diapers, wipes, formula (if i wanted), outfits, hats, breast creme ($15 tube of the good stuff)..just gave it to me SCORE!! pacifiers, nipple shields.. one was in Louisiana & other in Upper Michigan. Also sent me home with care items for myself. Tucks pads, the bottle/spray deal for your lady area, ice packs, super mega might as well be a diaper pads. I never once had to ask for any of these items, like the one post mentions i was encouraged to take them. Hope you are just as fortunate.

I am also in the US like a lot of ladies here are and when I had my son 6 years ago they provided pretty much everything you need for baby except the going home outfit (unless you want them going home in their onesie you can) and obviously the carseat. One thing they do here now which I LOVE is provide you with one of those swaddle things instead of blankets. They also will have a gown for you to wear and those ugly socks but I will probably bring a gown of my own and slippers for my own comfort. I don't plan on bringing much because I don't want to haul a whole lot when they have it all for me anyways.
