Every few days I've been giving DD different things like a banana in her mesh teether watermelon. Now I had wanted to do delayed weaning but she is pulling food out of our hands to try and eat them. You cant eat infront of her because she gets very upset that your not sharing. I've tried giving her toys to try and keep her entertained but yeah thats not happening because she throws the toys and reaches for our food. So long story short am I weaning her by giving her food every few days? or is it really more of a treat/toy?

Yes, I'd say it's definitely weaning. They do start to get curious around this age, but it's not really because they're hungry. They just want to be doing what you're doing. Unfortunately, they often don't have the skills to really eat safely yet (as in moving food around the mouth and swallowing it safely). Of course, it's up to you and only you know if you think she's ready yet. We started to let our daughter have a lick of certain things a little after 5 months (and literally a lick, it didn't go in her mouth, and only of fruit and veg). She definitely couldn't have managed actually eating it until 6 months though and it's really only been this past week (6 months, 3 weeks) that she can truly control her motor skills to really eat things well and without too much gagging.

Yes you are weaning her by giving her food other than milk.
