What is control crying?

I've found some info on here about controlled crying...it's quite a controversial topic so expect lots of opinions!!! I t says that it should only be used with babies over 6 months but I've known people to use it before then. I think it's similar to crying it out but the difference is you keep going back to them at set intervals.
