Woke up Sunday morning with pain in my left wrist. I assumed I'd slept funny and it would go away. It didn't.

It's the inner edge where thumb joint attaches to the arm. Forward and back is OK, side to side (waving) is a bit painful but it is twisting it downwards (like when trying to type or play piano) that is the worst. I can't type except one handed - so I'm at work feeling ridiculous as I haven't actually injured myself but I'm not really capable of doing a proper days work!!

I would get it checked hun- just to rule things out-- most likely you somehow overworked or injured a tendon. That is similar to the pain I get when mine is overused-- usually due to work stuff though. But the pain radiates from my thumb area all the way up my forarm... it's uncomfortable at best. I have found that when it's bad that acupunture helps soothe it a great deal. Plus- make sure I'm in the right ergo position at work is a big factor... I live with daily chronic pain though (not just my wrist when it acts up)-- so I have to figure out what helps me overall the most. Massage works well too- acupuncture- sitting position when I am working and just daily care of my body overall.

Bit overkill for your situation- but can't hurt to have it checked then look into your options to relieve the pain (if it continues)- hopefully not.

Could be carpal tunnel. Any numbness in your wrist or fingers?

I used to get it at my old job. You could wear a wrist splint to relieve pressure off your median nerve

Thanks guys. it sorted itself out about 6 days later. I think it was something in the tendons or similar (although I don't know what carpel tunnel feels like) as it was similar, but less intense, to the pain I got when I ruptured a ligament in my other wrist years ago.
