Because Dominic just does not sleep!

Yesterday he was up at 7, had a few 20 minute cat naps during the day and didn't go to sleep until half 10/11. He was then up at 1am, 3am and up for the day at 6.30am. How is that even possible. He just has so much energy. I'm exhausted!

Welcome to the 4 month sleep regression.....just breathe and wait it out.

My DS1 lasted 2 weeks and waiting for DS2 to start.

Your not alone xx

See I thought he went through that early for about 10 days when he was 13 weeks old and he settled back into a nice routine. He'd wake every 1.5 -2 hours and I'd hear him shuffling a little or have the odd shout but he'd fall straight back to sleep. Now he just doesn't sleep! I thought I'd got lucky with an easy sleep regression 😣 it makes for a very fussy miserable baby as well. Hopefully it won't last long then.

Its horrible when it happens. Just when you think you have them worked out they change again lol

I found with DS1 that the 4 month one was the hardest but just try to remember it's because they are growing and it's not forever.

my ds1 was an ok sleeper but wasn't the best either, but ds2 is a dream baby gets up 7.30/8am has a bottle and breakfast and naptime is at 9.45/10 am may sleep anywhere from an hour to three depends on his mood and then gets up has a bottle and his lunch then plays til 1 if he had a short early nap or stays up until 2 if he had a longer early nap again the length of this nap depends on how long he slept that morning is up for the evening has a bottle, has a snack in the evening abut 5/5.30 has a 20 minute cat nap at 6 and go down fr the night at 745/8pm he may wake or sometimes I dream feed him to make sure hes getting enough milk how much he eats doesn't bother me but hes a big boy and loves his food milk bottles aren't enough to sustain him

My daughter will be three months on the 17th. She's always been a good sleeper. She has been sleeping through the night for about a month now. I feel so fortunate! :):)

Enjoy it! So lucky

Dominic slept so well last night!
9-3, drank a bottle and then from about 3:45 - 8:30!

Another question 🙈
do your babies still feed through the night? My health visitor seemed surprised that Dominic still does. I don't think that's unreasonable for 4 months old?

DS2 goes to bed at 7pm. Feeds around 3ish and up at 7 to 8am. Lots of babies still feed during the night at this age. My DS1 slept 7 to 7 at 10 weeks. DS2 is 97 percentile for weight so guessing he still needs his night feed.

I think we've been going through the 4 month sleep regression since about 2.5 months!!

Was worse but now he wakes at 10pm, 1am, 4am, 5am, 6am, 7am!

I hate when people comment about a baby still feeding through the night! I had a physiotherapist tell me I shouldn't be feeding my then 2 month old baby at night- just try to settle him back to sleep. Every baby is different and you know what works for your baby. If he wakes and is hungry then feed him. He will let you know when he is developmentally ready to give that up :)

So true! Drives me crazy. Always usually from people who had babies who slept through from really early. Or people are so quickly to suggest early weaning as a quick fix. Dominic drinks a full 5/6oz at night so I know he's drinking it because he needs it, it's not just like he's just drinking an oz out of habit and falling asleep.
I've got no issues with getting up with him through the night, it's when he's the sweetest/ most smiley/ snuggly. Not in a hurry to get rid of those night feeds. It's just the super late nights, early mornings and lack of naps I can't cope with.

He's slept brilliantly again today. Slept 8:30-8 with 1 feed at 4am then he treated us to a 3 hour nap at 10:30. More days and nights like this pleas baby!

Dominic's the same, he's a big chunky bum and is already heavier than my friends' babies who 7 months and 15 months!
He's also doing a thing at the minute where he's getting less through the day because he's getting distracted and isn't as interested in his bottles no matter how boring I make the environment he gets fed in (which baby wants to drink milk when their mums tshirt and hair are so fun?!)
At night it's dark and boring so I'm just happy to get a good full feed into him without any fuss.
