I posted this in the assisted conception area but nobody answered so I thought I'd see if any of you have any thoughts.

So I've had it, it is time for me to go get some help. The whole story is that I have a fabulous almost 3 year old who we conceived on the very first try. I had an uneventful pregnancy that ended in a c-section because he was huge and tried to come out sideways, got wedged in and they had to pull him out once they realized he was NEVER getting out the intended way.

Fast forward to last August when the hubs and I decided it was time to start cookin' #2. I started taking my prenatals, watched what I ate, we did the deed a few times in the middle of my cycle and poof - I got pregnant. But POOF, just as fast, I miscarried. Technically a chemical pregnancy as it was very early. I had no time or emotions to deal with that one as my father in law passed away at the same time AND I was planning/running/catering a party for a client all that same week. Over the next few months I'm pretty sure I had at least 2 more chemical pregnacies. I'm very sensitive to my hormonal changes and noticed during a couple of cycles that I felt wonky but never tested positive on a hpt. Then there was another month (last month) when my husband suggested I test on our anniversary (11dpo I think) and it was positive, on 2 tests. I didn't have any symptoms but there it was. But the next day I tested negative.

I did some research and wondered if my progesterone might be low so I ordered some topical cream figuring it wouldn't hurt to try it. Well, it helped but not enough. This month I conceived again, got my first positive last Sunday then as I tested each morning, the lines got lighter and lighter until today it was just barely there. Yesterday, suspecting it was ending, I convinced my old doctor to write orders for me to get a blood hcg test without an appointment (she couldn't see me until Friday and I knew it would be gone by then) just so I have record of the pregnancy besides the handful of ics and FRERs I've kept from this round.

So I'm 35, been at this TTC thing for 6 months and having multiple chemical pregnancies. It is time to find a doctor on my new insurance plan so what do you all think, should I go straight for a fertility specialist or find an OB? The doc who wrote the blood test is a family practicioner and isn't on my new insurance so I have to find a new doc either way and wanted some advice on what route to take and if any of you have any thoughts on my situation.

Start with an OB, they'll be able to test your hormone levels to see if anything is off. Where do you live? In Canada, you're not considered to have fertility issues until you've been TTC for 1 year so fertility specialists won't see you before then. PLUS you've successfully conceived and have a healthy son, so you're not infertile :) Hope this helps a bit! (I'm a doctor)

I concur... check with the OB first for initial blood work etc... BUT, if there are any concerns, then I would for sure not wait to see a Fertility Specialist. I took the 6 mos advised to TTC after my hubbies 2nd VR, then got straight on to blood work and referred to a FS right after...

Could be something simple they just need to balance out with your hormones though...

Best of luck hun!!!! FX'd for ya :)

That does help, thank you. I'm in the US and what I've seen is that under 35, you have to wait a year but over 35 and they'll talk to you at 6 months. Plus, repeated chemical pregnancies gets me special consideration. I'm thankful I ovulate and my husband's sperm appears to be getting to the egg but for whatever reason, my body keeps booting the little zygotes to the curb. I don't have any lab proof of any previous chemical pregnacies but I think I have proof of this one (am still waiting on the results of the blood hcg test from Wednesday).

Sending you ALL the very best of luck hun... sending you some much deserved sticky bean baby dust!!!!!
