My doctor told me on my check up visit that if i dont have a period in 1 month from the day i miscarried then i need to go back in to the doc. Did anyone elses doctor tell them this and WHY?

Nope - my period took 35 days to return & I think its pretty normal for it to take anything up to 6wks hun

It is different for everyone as it can vary greatly depending on how far along you were/whether or not you needed medical management

sorry for your loss  xx

Well i was about 6 + 1 and i didnt need any medical stuff it all happened naturally

I was 9 weeks.. and took misoprostal to induce my mc.. my dr told me that most women ovulate within 3-4 weeks after a mc.. and they should see their period around 6 weeks.. but I was a little further than you were.. so I dont know.

Sorry for your loss. :hugs:

I'm sorry for your loss

At the hospital i was told to expect AF any time from 4 to 6 weeks after my MC. I was also early on in my pregnancy and MC naturally at home.

Hope that helps.

I was farther along in my pregnancy (~14 weeks when the baby's heartbeat stopped, but I was ~17 weeks pregnant when we found out) and had a D&C. My obstetrician said that I should expect my period anywhere from 4 - 6 weeks later. It seems from the other posts that it doesn't really seem to matter how far along you were, but 4 - 6 weeks is quite common.

Mine didn't. I'm not sure how many people get a period as soon as 1 month afterwards, I didn't. Mine was 5 weeks exactly so that would have been over a month but I think that was pretty normal. I think you normally get your first period after within 4-6 weeks and, if it takes any longer than 8 weeks, then go and see your doctor.

I'm only just about to go through this, but I think if AF is delayed the first month it's quite normal.
Maybe they are worried you may have retained something, or they just want to check on you & see how you are in yourself?

I'm sorry for your loss xx

Mine didn't either - and in fact when he told me I'd probably get another period in about 4 weeks I thought yeah right in a perfect world!! I am expecting it to take a bit longer. Agree with dan-o - maybe they're just nice sympathetic doctors who want to see how you're doing. I don't think they'd have said it for any sinister reason. I hope you'll get back to normal quickly xx

I personally haven't been told anything about what to expect, but I think that they say If you haven't had a period in 4 weeks in case any part of the pregnancy is left behind. All Ive been told is to do a test 14 days after losing and hope for a negative result as this will indicate a total natural evacuation.

sorry for your loss.
i have just had a mc at 12 weeks. i wasnt told (i forgot to ask!) when my next period would be due but research confirms what has been said on here, 4-6 weeks and possibly longer, all normal......$%^&£$ im soo impatient!
Anyway i was advised 1 negative pregnancy test, 1 period and try again...but i think this is different for various MC's..........again sorry for your loss - its crap.
