What size teats at almost 6 months?

Hey ladies, LO is almost 6 months and drinks both breast milk and formula from a bottle.

We're currently using Avent bottles along with size 2 teats. I'm always nervous to go up a size because she has reflux, though it seems to be getting better recently. I noticed it took her almost 20 minutes to finish a 7 ounce bottle this morning. Should we move up to size 3? I have some purchased, but am nervous...

Give one a go for a feed and see how she copes? It's not as if the move up is some kind of irreversible one-time only decision - if she struggles with the faster flow, drop back to the stage 2 ones for a bit longer.

For what it's worth we were moving onto Avent size 4s by 6 months - but my daughter is a bottomless pit of food and milk guzzle, to the extent she'll grab the bottle out of your hands if you're not handing it over fast enough (unfortunately her aim is shit so she ends up trying to shove the teat up her nostrils 90% of the time!) - basically she's an impatient little madam where the food's concerned.

I'm still using size 1 nipples on Born Free bottles as my LO had horrible reflux and colic. she needs it to go slower because otherwise she will spew everything back up. but if she is taking so long or seem frustrated it's worth trying it once and then monitoring her after to see if she's gassy or etc.

Thanks ladies. We tried the stage 3 nipples at bedtime last night and it worked great. Then I tried again this morning and she was practically choking on the bottle! I wasn't sure what the difference was, but I realized I fed her formula last night and breast milk this morning. Perhaps the formula is thicker and therefore best with the more advancted teat?

Could well be - I know we went through a phase where she struggled to take the formula cartons as well as the formula powder and it definitely seemed to be down to slight differences in consistency (and we found she struggled more with the colic-ring-less Avent bottle and the carton milk, rather than the colic-ring bottle with it... if that makes sense to you?) It was very much just a short phase she went through before she got back into the swing of things though.
