We give Zoë her bath at 6.30pm and she's in bed by 7.30pm, but recently she has been bawling the place down whilst getting dressed for bed and rubbing her eyes. It means she won't take a decent amount of milk either as she just wants to sleep.

I'm not sure about bringing her bedtime forward anymore. Her dad isn't in from work until 6pm so she may, potentially, not see him during the week at all!

I should also mention that she's restless during the night; lots of moaning and groaning, but her eyes are closed. She does wake about 5am and I give her some milk and she'll settle down again for another couple of hours.

Anyway....just wondering what everyone else does and if you have any suggestions.

Both my children go to bed at 6.30 otherwise they're grumps the next day  my little boy is 1 now but we started a routine with him at about four months old and he's always gone to bed at 6.30, works great for us :)

My DS went to bed at 8pm until he was about 5 months old he switched to 730pm. Could you maybe give one last later nap and a slightly later bedtime if you want her to be up so she can spend time with DH ?

I put her down for a nap at 5.30pm and she slept for about half an hour. She woke up proper cranky :(

At 4 months DS2 wasn't settling I'll 9:30/10 pm at the earliest at 4 months, now at 6 months he goes down between 7:30/8pm

You have 2 options, put her down for the night when she's tired and DH miss seeing her or put her down for a late nap and have a later bedtime

Either way it may change as she gets older, my eldest didn't settle into a fixed bedtime until closer to 1

Ds is 4 1/2 months. He goes for a little nap at 5-6/6:30 then goes to bed at 9pm after a quiet couple of hours snuggling. He then had a dream feed at 11 and sleeps til about 9am (hope I haven't jinxed it saying that!) Maybe a little nap in the evening will help your LO stay up a bit longer. Being overtired can cause them to be unsettled for their long sleep at night x

Thanks ladies for your replies. Zoë currently takes all her naps in her cot bed, but has a small nap (sometimes) downstairs on her baby bean bag. Would you suggest putting her upstairs for her evening nap as well? How lon should that nap be? Tonight she had a half hour nap and went hot to her bath when she woke from it and was still a nightmare!

DS2 tends to have between 30-45 minutes around 4:30pm this is enough to get him through to bedtime

I'd try out a few different things and see what works for you guys

At 5 months DS went down for the night about 8 but he would sometimes only wake from his late afternoon nap at 6 which was his feed time.

My little one is 5 months too :)
His afternoon feed is usually at about 4 and he naps from about 5.30-6/6.30. Then I feed him at 8, and give him another top up at about 9 and put him down and then he sleeps through til around 7.45am :)
I only started giving him the top up and putting him to sleep later recently. He used to go to sleep at about 7.30 but I had to dream feed him at 10pm and he woke up at about 5.30am, so the new routine works much better for me :)
Hope this helps X

Well she's in bed sleeping already. I put her down for a nap as she was rubbing her eyes at 4.15pm, but she woke up after about 40 minutes. I brought her downstairs but she was still tired and was cranky until she had her last bottle and went to bed. Hopefully we'll have better luck tomorrow night.
I think you guys are right and it's a case of winging it and basing bedtime on whe her last nap was.

Mine was going to bed for 6:30/7 at around that age. She was also in the process of dropping her third nap then too.
