I've become obsessed with what I may be missing from baby items. I know it's number 2 but I'm more nervous as with DS1 we had a rough start with severe acid reflux and I just need to make sure I'm as prepared as I can be by having anything even vaguely useful in the house. I know it's a little crazy.

So...what was your best buy? What couldn't you live without? Any tips on making life easier? All advice welcome :flower:

Chicco next2me crib and a woven wrap. Those are the only two things I bought specifically for number 2. Otherwise it was just the usual mountain of babygros, vests and muslins.

Less stuff for sure, I would say stocked cupboards and freezer, make up meals and pop them in those foil trays.
I also recommend a stretchy wrap for newborn and a woven wrap or ring sling to move on to.

If you plan on formula feeding the perfect prep is great. My wee one is so demanding about feeding, she goes from fine to screaming the place down in a second, so its great not having to wait for a bottle!

The angelcare monitor with sensor pad. I can lay her down and actually get some rest because I know she is breathing. I'm quite anxious and it just gives me a bit reassurance - it has only had one false alarm so far and that was because I was rocking the crib too hard so I could see her anyway.

Other than that there are a few toys which have been brilliant at just giving me a minute to myself, such as the fisher price rainforest kick n learn gym (with the piano at her feet) and the jumperoo.

All the items which have been the best buys have been bought second hand. We got the perfect prep brand new, boxed, from someone who ended up breastfeeding so it only cost us £50, our monitor only cost £30, our jumperoo £35 and our play gym was £15.

It depends on the baby that you will have :)
DS wanted to be held 24/7, but i did not have a wrap, so for DD i got very good baby carrier (luckily friend lended it to me :) and guess what, she like to lay down in her cot :)

Its better if you make a list of things you are missing and then once the baby os born, seeif you need any of it to addto whatever you already have
Buti agree with above, the less the better as you dont want to take careof all the stuff plus 2kids

If I had to pick my top 5 favorite newborn items, I would say:
- Rock n Play
- SwaddleMe's
- Soothie pacifiers
- Keekaroo changing pad (it saved me so much time not having to clean the cloth covered ones)
- Ergo 360 carrier

The perfect prep machine has saved my life. Also the Tommee tippie powder dispensers are fab because I'm able to measure out the amount of powder I need and keep it in the cupboard instead of faffing around with scoops and a knife when DD wants feeding promptly!

Impossible to choose one between my top 2 ... 1) Ergo baby carrier 2) Perfect prep

1) my tommee tippee nappy disposal thing. Saves the faff of needing to take every single nappy to the bin outside every single time. Highly recommend it!

2) my feeding cushion. Can't imagine trying to breastfeed without it. Makes such a difference and I'm already wondering How people manage when they are out and about without one!

3) lansinoh nipple cream. Right now I don't feel like I'll ever leave the house without it!

The perfect prep machine has been a god send for us! I couldn't imagine standing cooling a bottle in the middle of the night while my little miss is screaming.

Top baby items that make my life much easier are:

Ergo baby carrier
Cloth diapers and wipes
Paci-Plushie

Sleeping bags. Eva kept kicking off blankets and slept through 12-6 the first night in a bag. And she loves her baby gym.

If I were to do it again I would definitely get less for the baby and more for me. Eg:
Relatives to commit to coming to stay and help out
Pre-frozen easy to eat with one hand meals
A list of support groups and people to talk to

Things I have kept just incase we have another:
My sling
My glider chair (this was awesomely comfy actually and a lifesaver)

I've got a rock n play for up to 6 mo. or when they can pull themselves up. It's got toys and a little vibrator too, I put it next to the bed at night (well we bed share mostly) so it comes in handy in the kitchen when I'm making dinner I can just set LO down right there and he is entertained.

If you're doing cloth diapers, I would buy 35+ I have 30 and some days it feels like it's not enough LO pees so much! :dohh:

I have a boba wrap but with the upcoming summer heat it's so hot to wear and very cumbersome to put on. Some sort of baby carrier for when baby wants to be held all day but you have things to do

And definitely more meals stocked up in the freezer or box dinners. Might even invest in a maid to come by bi-weekly just to keep after dishes/laundry. OH and I were both so exhausted the first month or so, can't imagine with two!
