And of course I mean your hospital bag!

Tomorrow I will officially enter the third trimester (Whoo!) and of course, I'm getting a bit stir crazy!! All online you see these "suggested lists" of what they think you should bring. My question-is all of it really necessary?

So ladies, I'm wondering what all you already have packed, or what you plan on packing, and also what all of you already mamas out there would suggest! I certainly don't want to suddenly go into labor later on and be running around in panic mode trying to figure out what to bring

Things I didnt have but wish I had. ( I was in 4 days so longer than planned)
Heamoroid cream
Nipple cream ( lansoh if thats howvyou spell it
Black or dark PJ bottoms

Funny you should bring this up, hubby has been pushing me to get my bag packed the last couple days since I've been one big giant nesty bird and our son is measuring 4 weeks ahead.

I'm bringing;

GENERAL:
Insurance Info
IDs
Cellphone chargers
Camera
Shampoo/Conditioner/Hairbrush/Toothbrush/Toothpaste/Deodorant
Hair clip/tie
Baby Book (for foot prints etc)

ME:
Non-skid socks/slippers
Robe
Squishies (PJ pants)
unimportant nighties
Granny Panties
Nursing bras
Nursing pads
Maternity pads
Go-Home clothes

HUBBY:
Swim suit (Japanese soaking tub NOT for laboring in, just pain relief and they encourage hubby to get in)
Squishies (his PJ pants)
Jeans/Shirts
Body Pillow

ETHAN:
Take home outfit for Ethan
Blanket for Ethan
Car seat

I have packed the following:

Diapers (they supply them at the hospital, but I have a specific kind I want to use with no weird chemicals)
Wipes
Take-home outfit for baby (2 actually - one newborn and one 0-3)
Blankets (for covering baby in the car seat)

Nightgown and robe for labouring
Comfy going home clothing for me
A couple of pairs of underwear
Socks
Slippers

Snacks
Juice
Camera
iPod and speakers
Birth plan
Toothbrushes and toothpaste

I think that's it.

I'm getting way ahead of myself and have started putting together some supplies:

- Maternity pads
- Nursing pads and nipple cream
- Button up thin nightie for labour and PJs for after
- robe
- mini bottles of shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, toothpaste etc
- hair ties and brush

Things to add nearer the time

- going home clothes for me and baby
- nappies
- my own pillow
- baby blanket
- moby wrap
- chargers for phones
- snacks
- book(s)
- some cash just in case
- maybe my knitting in case there's any downtime :D

Just make sure you pack more than 2 outfits. I learnt that packing LOADS of vests and babygrows is the way to go because that's all they need to be in. Chances are nappies will leak (and go all over the crib!) so lots of changes might be needed.

I packed still Lucozade for myself and chocolate for the midwives last time to keep them sane as I was sure I wasn't going to be! lol!

It's way too early for me to think about it yet, but I know I will take a lot less than last time. I need to remind myself that I'm not giving birth on the moon - at worst I'd have to do without something I forget overnight until visiting hours the next morning.

So - a button up nightshirt for giving birth in
- pair of dark pjs, nursing bra, then sweater and baggy pants for going home
-slipper socks
- lots of nursing pads and maternity pads
- 4 pairs of cheap undies
- towel, soap, toothbrush, toothpaste, hairbrush and deodorant to freshen up
- handful of baby grows and a hat for baby
- nappies, cotton wool balls, nappy sacks
- My phone and a charger
- Maybe the tens machine

I won't be bringing:
-snacks. Couldn't face it in labour, there's vending machines everywhere and the hospital provide meals and drinks
-the big camera - we didn't bother wasting time getting it out of the case/messing with lens caps etc
-books and magazines for me (my husband can bring himself one, if he likes!) I was zoned out during labour and too exhausted/overwhelmed to read after the birth
-coats/blankets etc for bringing baby home - daddy can bring these rather than me lugging them around with me
- extra pillows, music, lipbalm, make up etc - didn't care about any of it

Oh my goodness! So bringing our music with us! We did last time but didn't bother using it as there was a radio playing... but no word of a lie these songs came up when I was in delivery room...

Push It: Salt and Pepper

Hit Me Baby One More Time: Britney Spears (I had to scream to get someone to turn the thing off!)

Haha and I Don't Want To Miss Thing by Aerosmith - all the time it was playing I was saying to myself "Not like this, please... not like this!"

I'm thinking a hypnotherapy CD at the moment or Whale noises.... anything to calm me down! Haha! xxx

Some of these lists are great, will probably steal a few of them. ;)

Just to add - depending on the hospital they may or may not have these:

*Witch hazel pads - put them on top of the maternity pads and it felt ammaaazzing after birth!

*Colace - sounds silly but I had the most horrendous constipation that lasted 6 weeks post-partum, and my hospital was terrible at giving it to me so I'll just be bringing my own bottle from the start.

*Adult diapers  - sounds horrendous, but they were actually great for me. The postpartum bleeding combined with not being able to feel my bladder at all for a few weeks after I gave birth was miserable, and these definitely helped.

I just got my bag mostly set up, some stuff I will need to put together closer to time.

For me:
2 nursing nightgowns
3 dark colored PJ bottoms (I HATE not having bottoms on)
5 pairs of giant granny panties
nursing pads
nursing bras
maternity pads
witch hazel pads
squirt bottle
robe
snacks
toiletries (toothpaste/brush/shampoo etc.)
Kindle (probably won't get used, but I never leave home without it)
camera
lip balm
water bottle

For husband:
3 underwear
3 undershirts
3 t-shirts
2 basketball shorts
1 pair sweat pants
laptop, cell phone and chargers
snacks (he has a lot of dietary restrictions, it will be hard for him to eat in the hospital)

For baby:
going home outfit
couple of spare disposable diapers/wipes just in case

Our Doula is bringing massage stuff, music, snacks and tea for me :)

My list is bigger than it should be... but I'd rather have this stuff so I feel comfortable!

• Documents: ID, insurance card, registration form, birth plan
• $40 cash (parking & take-out)
• 2 pairs thick socks
• 1 pair slippers
• 2 pairs yoga pants
• 2 tank tops
• 2 shelf bras
• Robe
• Shampoo
• Conditioner
• Body Wash
• Lotion
• Coconut Oil
• Feminine Wipes
• Lip Balm
• Hair Ties
• Bobby Pins
• Hair Spray
• Basic Make-up
• Deodorant
• Toothbrush
• Toothpaste
• Breast Pads
• Snacks
• Pens & Note Pad
• Playing Cards
• Tablet
• Charger (works for phone and tablet)
• Camera Bag (camera, charger, battery)
• 2-3 Onesies
• Take Home Outfit (including hat, mittens & socks)
• 2-3 Blankets
• Boppy Pillow

Hospital provides nice, thick pads for me as well as diapers for baby, so I am not worried about those. I know they provide toiletries, but I prefer my own. I know some mamas don't use the make-up & hair stuff, but I want to look & feel human for pictures. Obviously the car seat will be in the car, too!

I packed my bag yesterday:
Marernity nightie
robe
slippers
Pyjamas
comfy joggers
tshirts
bikini for birthing pool
toiletries bag
hairbrush
hair ties
maternity oads
nipple pads
pants
2 maternity bras
spare change
kindle

Still have to buy nipple cream, straws.

For baby the hospital provides everything so just need stuff to go home with :)
