Since I found out I was expecting my doctor has been taking blood to test my "hormone levels" .. She has said that they are low everytime, but in my last ultrasound baby is completely healthy and normal. What could be causing low pregnancy hormone levels? And is this something I should be concerned about?

Unfortunately I haven't been able to ask my doctor much about this, I spend more time with her nurse than her. And have not seen my doctor since the last time she said they were low. (2 weeks ago)

As long as your 'hormone levels' (I assume she means hcg levels) are increasing, it doesn't matter whether they are 'low', for instance: in my 'What to Expect when You're Expecting', p. 139, they give these parameters (sp):

weeks/ amount of hcg in mIU/L
3 / 5 to 50
4 / 5 to 426
5 / 19 to 7,340
6 / 1,080 to 56,500
7-8 / 7,650 to 229,000
9-12 / 25,700 to 288,000

so, as you can see you be at the low levels and still be 'ok'. I would ask your/her nurse the next time you are in, just to clarify, but if you have had a good scan, etc., that is more important (altho, I am not a doctor)!

best wishes
