Whats the scoop on cm before af?

I've been trying to figure out the answer to that question. This is the first month I have ever checked cm for a full month, usually I stop after O. So, is it supposed to be dry, creamy, clear, thick, white? Just curious what the text book answer is on this! Thanks ladies in advance.

Usually mine is super dry a few days before and the closer I get, the wetter it gets. Every once in a while (like now...not sure this is my month) I get what resembles EWCM.

That sounds almost identical to mine. Im hoping that I will get the hang of this after a few cycles..
