Hello ladies

Since the day I found out I was pregnant I had fallen for the name
Lacey-river praying that I'd be having a little girl!:happydance: AND I AM so ever since I found out I refer to her as Lacey-river and can't imagine her being anything else

I understand it won't be to every1s cup of tea but it suits mine,OH isn't keen on double barrel names but as he named our son he has no choice? Some people say it's tacky? But I think the double barrel helps get both names recognised and stands out,my second name no one even knows about!

What do you think?.
Xx

You want to call your kid Lazy-river as in a water park?

I don't mind double barrelled names but I wouldn't thank anybody who named me that.

Wow my posts really do attract rudeness! Never heard of a water park and I never said lazy, thank you.

Eta. Sorry just saw you didn't ask about the name itself. Double barrels aren't for me but it's your baby right?
I understand what tommy is saying, to me i think people could say it similar to lazy river.... It's open to teasing....

I'm not a fan of double barrel names, but I really like Rae as a first name as well, so I've had some suggestions in double barreling my daughters name instead of Rae just being her middle name. I'm not going to do it though, I just can't bring myself to give her two first names. That's all my opinion though.

And the lazy river is a thing at a water park. Basically you get in an inner tube and just float until you're ready to get off. I find it rude that people are commenting on your name choice when you didn't ask for opinions on the name itself, just the double barreling portion of it.

I like certain double barrel names, like Annie-Rose, but do think they sound a little dated or tacky? IDK why.

I don't particularly care for them myself and honestly think they're just as prone to shortening as any other name that can be shortened.

I think it depends on the names - there are some that sound quite tacky but pairing up the right two names can sound nice. There seems to be a thing for the name Elsie-May where we live at the moment, which is pretty but then Tammy-Ann or jamie-Lynn have a negative association for some reason.

I like your two names - I do agree that together they may leave her open to teasing about the lazy river thing but most names leave children open to teasing. My mum says my lg's initials will mean she's teased (we have a double barrell surname, initials ht and her first name is Sadie so her initials are sht - my mum said "I can't believe you've given your baby initials that spell a swear word! She'll be teased")

I do think it's important to reach a decision with your hubby though... I see it in the same way as moving in and buying furniture for the first time (it isn't about finding what you like or about finding what he likes - it's about finding something you both like) Sadie wasn't mine or hubby's favourite name but the only one in both our top five lists and we love knowing we chose it together.xx

I'm not a huge fan of double barrel names. I have seen a few that weren't bad, but unless all the names are short, it can end up a huge long mess. Especially if she was to hyphenate her last name when she marries which is very common where I live.

With that said I do like each name on its own!

I like both of the names but not double barrelled. I always think of double barrelling when one of the names is shorter (like Ann or May), and even then I don't care for it. I think that since it's long you'll find that people drop one of the names anyway (likely River), so I would just make it her middle name. Or have River as her first name and Lacey as the middle name if you like River more.

Wow this did not go down well did it? This is why I'm not asking for anybodies opinions on baby names!

I wouldn't add to the negativity here because I think you've had quite enough of that, but since I actually kinda like it I thought I'd post. I'm normally not a fan of the double barrel either, but that one kinda rolls off the tongue. It's pretty and brings to mind flowing lace ribbons for me. Not water park rides at all.

All names have issues, and having a name that isn't easy to tease about doesn't stop kids teasing you so I say if it still fits her when she is in your arms, I think it's the right name for your little one.

Ignoring the name choice... because that's not what you asked...

I hate them, no point at all. It's basically a middle name that u expect people to use all the time. Reminds me of the sarah jane fiasco of the 1990's haha.

That might be specific to where I live mind but omg.... I must have had 3 in my class at one point.

Honestly to me I don't understand them. Most people that give their kids double barrelled names only call them by the first name so I don't see the point! I think if you are going to call them by the whole name then go for it but if you're going to just use Lacey I don't see the point.

Also sometimes think they can be chavvy (sorry if that offends anyone) but like bobbi-Jo etc
My daughter is ava rose and all my family call her ava rose but we just call her ava, so there was no point for us double barrelling it. If you like it though go for it x

Thankyou to everyone's input :) I have only ever known 1 child (who I work with) who has a double barrel and her parents plus friends and family call her by both names.

My favourite name was river but because I want it to go nicely with her older brother I changed it to the middle name so it would be Archie & Lacey but I'm worried people will miss the middle name, I think it's so pretty I wouldn't want people to miss it

Xx

Ok I'm with it you'd never heard of a Lazy River I honestly thought you were trying to put a play on the name.
If its River that you really want. What is wrong with Archie & River?

River I think works for both a boy or a girl.
I'm sorry but Lacey just doesn't shine for me. But then the only Lacey I've ever come across is 80's TVs Cagney and Lacey.
Even on its own it could be leaving a kid up for ridicule, Lazy Lacey. Also depending on how common it is where you live people are bound to miss hear it. She'll spend her life spelling it out.

River is actually known as a boys name but I think it suits girls far more and sounds pretty, I'm just unsure weather Archie and river go together as well as lacey.

Lacey I've heard of a few times but not overly popular where I live but I've always liked it so that's how I came up with putting the 2 together plus their surname is George which as u know can be a 1st name mostly than a surname so I thought it would be better suited

Archie Alexander George & Lacey river George

The thing to think of is their names are unlikely to be said in full together it will either be Archie and xxxx George although that makes them sound like a married couple or more likely Archie and xxxx. I couldn't tell you when I've ever referred to a set of siblings tagging the surname onto the end.
