when can i get a bath??

DS will be 6wks on tuesday and just wondered when will or did you ladies have ur first bath after your section ( i cant rem with DD) i have had an infection and do still have some stitches so thinking its best to leave it s bit longer or will getting a bath help, in getting board if the shower want a nice long soak and some me time in the bath!! xx

This question always comes with different responses. With both mine I had a bath the next day whilst still in hospital. Midwives said it was fine x

P.s I couldn't have survived without my three times daily baths, was the only time I felt nice in those early days!

i showered in the hosp and every day since to keep scar clean even though still ended up with infection but wasnt sure if i was allowed to get a bath, i have my 6 wk check on tues so will ask then!! dont want to risk it but as i broke the shower last night i thought i would ask, but ended up at mum and dads having a shower as wasnt sure as not sure if infection has cleared up!!

thanks though!! its so confusing all the conflicting info!! x

Did someone tell you not to have a bath? I'm not sure what the advice would be due to the infection as I didn't experince that, so hope you get the answers from doc x

If you feel comfortable getting in and out the bath, I don't think there is much of a problem. I just wouldn't use product in the bath for a whole incase there is any of the scar still open.

I asked my OB when I saw him this week.. he said I could have had a bath a week post surgery.. I went home and got straight in the tub!

you can have a bath just dont put any bubbles or anything in it that could irritate your infection x
