When can u express?

Hiya i'm a little curious really. Fx my pregnancy will continue to go well and raisin will be born nice and healthy around his/her due date of 3rd Dec.

I plan to breastfeed and was wondering when you can express so ur partner can feed the baby? Just wondered as dh would love to feed the baby every now and again? XXX

First of all massive congrats hun, didn't know you were pregnant again! Remember you from TTC and the loss section from last year, well done you xxx

They recommend you leave it for the first 6 weeks for a few reasons.

1/ Your supply isn't established straight away and therefore you can't express much so you get down hearted and paranoid about your supply. So don't get worried.

2/ Babies can learn early on that they can milk easier out of a bottle and start to refuse the boob so they say wait until 6 weeks again until your feeding is established.

I'm sure there may be more reasons to wait but can't think of any.

Having said all that my lo has had atleast bottle a day since she was about 4 days old. No nipple confusion but the expressing was bloody hard going xxx
