I had a scan at 35+4 which showed a small part of my placenta is still near the cervix. The sonographer first thought all was fine and basically told me there was plenty of room for a vaginal birth (as had a different sonographer said 2 weeks earlier). As a standard procedure she offered me a vaginal scan 'just to be 100% sure'... sure enough, the vaginal surprised her and us and there's a 'lip' of the placenta near the cervix still. She didn't tell us, or write down on the scan report, how close it is though. She seemed quite convinced I'd need a c-section
Letter got written up that day and sent off, and I got an appointment date through to discuss things with a consultant on the 29th of April. I'll be 38+2 by then, which I personally think is ridiculously late to be brought in for another scan and to discuss a c-section. I was booked in for a home birth, and this has completely knocked me for 6 and left me really upset. Just as I started to get to terms with it (midwife had expected the appointment to be this week) and felt like I was getting close to answers (like a definite yes or no) I feel thrown back into the deep end and left waiting.
So, my question ... when did you get your date for an elective c-section? When did you have your c-section? Did you feel like you had enough time still to get around all the facts in your head and prepare emotionally?
