When did you get your c-section date? Did you feel prepared?

I had a scan at 35+4 which showed a small part of my placenta is still near the cervix. The sonographer first thought all was fine and basically told me there was plenty of room for a vaginal birth (as had a different sonographer said 2 weeks earlier). As a standard procedure she offered me a vaginal scan 'just to be 100% sure'... sure enough, the vaginal surprised her and us and there's a 'lip' of the placenta near the cervix still. She didn't tell us, or write down on the scan report, how close it is though. She seemed quite convinced I'd need a c-section

Letter got written up that day and sent off, and I got an appointment date through to discuss things with a consultant on the 29th of April. I'll be 38+2 by then, which I personally think is ridiculously late to be brought in for another scan and to discuss a c-section. I was booked in for a home birth, and this has completely knocked me for 6 and left me really upset. Just as I started to get to terms with it (midwife had expected the appointment to be this week) and felt like I was getting close to answers (like a definite yes or no) I feel thrown back into the deep end and left waiting.

So, my question ... when did you get your date for an elective c-section? When did you have your c-section? Did you feel like you had enough time still to get around all the facts in your head and prepare emotionally?

I got my date at my 16 week appointment! My consultant didn't see the point in a separate appointment just to put me in the diary..So yes, i have lots of time to prepare myself physically and mentally...

I do seem to be an odd one out from other c-section mums i know though... My friend is at the same hospital as me but has a different consultant and she got her date around 32 weeks x

Thank you =)

My midwife spoke to her boss today, who was fuming with the hospital for leaving everything this late. She got on the phone straight away and managed to get me in to hospital today for a confirmation scan and consultant appointment.

Even better yet, the confirmation scan showed that there's no placenta near the cervix at all and that I have no signs of a placenta previa. Her best guess was that I had a contraction during my scan last week, which made it look like there was placenta there when there wasn't. No clue how that works, but she double checked and I'm all cleared for a home birth instead of c-section =D

I got my date between 16-20 weeks, I can't remember exactly. The doctor looked at his calendar and booked me immediately then they had to confirm with the hospital.

For my specific situation (I'm high risk of uterine rupture), I have my csection booked for 38+1 to avoid going into labour on my own. My csection was booked back in January for May 30th. But this is because my hospital I town has 2 different OR's, and only one for planned csections. They only book one csection in there a day. So need to have it booked WAY in advance!

I got told on the Saturday that it would be the following Wednesday! I didn't make it to the planned c section however.. I have read lots of women do not usually get booked in until a week before x

I got my date at 35 weeks this time and with the twins I had it just under 2 weeks before. I guess they are waiting to see if it moves, but if be very frustrated with such short notice. Good luck x

I got given mine last Thursday (35+5) to have a section at 39+4 - the only available date. Although they did promise me that they would move it as a sooner date becomes free.

I'm getting my date at my 34+4 appointment. Last time I had it about 30 weeks! But policy has apparently changed now and don't get booked in until around 35 weeks here x
