Charlie was born Tuesday night at 11:43 pm. It is Friday night now and nothin yet. Little man isn't wanting to latch anymore and it's discouraging to me and I feel so bad that he gets frustrated. he pushes away from the boob :(I'm pumping colostrum for him and giving it to him with a syringe and he totally loves that... so I'm hoping when milk comes in he will be more interested in the breast. I really want the bonding experience.... when should I worry that milk hasn't arrived yet?

Don't stress it can take a while I think I was on day 4 mine came in...

Try and get lo on the boob more coz him suckling makes your milk come in better then expressing...

The hormones u release when lo is on the boob are greater then expressing...

Good luck and try not to worry coz stress makes it worse...good luck and congrats on your lo !

With my eldest it was day 4-5 when my milk started coming in xx

It came in the evening of day 3 (and she was born in the morning) for me but I believe 3 to 5 days is normal. If you're syringe feeding him, I'd be concerned about establishing a proper latch. You may want to talk to a lactation consultant about that to make sure you're not setting yourself up for nursing difficulties with the syringe.

Totally normal! My LO was also born on Tuesday night and also had issues latching after a couple of days. I went to bed on Friday night frustrated, woke up once and noticed my LO was feeding better, and then when I woke up for the day my OH wanted to know how I had managed to get a boob job overnight. :haha: Just keep encouraging him to latch. Your milk will come in!

Day three i think, but i have tones of milk, and he wanted it all the time:)

For me it was kind of gradual on days 3-5. I was pumping from day 2 because LO was hospitalized.

Oliver was born on a Tuesday morning and milk came on saturday evening

Have you spoken to a lactation consultant? It might be worth while, just to make sure he keeps latching correctly xx

It took four of five days for my milk to come in, i remember thinking 'it will never happen' but when it did, wow!! So much milk. On a complete side line, my boobs did not change throughout pregnancy at all or after birth until day 4 when they quadrupeled!

About the end of day 5, and it was so slow coming in.

2 days with my first. And wow did it come in! Massively hugely engorged due to crazy oversupply!

Day 4-5 for me my breasts swelled, got really hard and they were very hot.

Day 5 for me....felt like forever!! I never got the boob job look sadly and have never leaked once....but it's definitely there!!

Around day 5, it was quite slow as I'd lost a lot of blood

Day 4 (I had an emergency c section). I was never engorged or leaking loads. The only reason I knew it came in was that DD1 was sick a little and it was white and runny and we realised my milk was there! I BF her for 8 months.

So re-reading your post, at 36 hours (where you are) my milk hadn't come yet with DD1, it came about 12 hours after this.

I am worried that your LO won't latch though as you won't stimulate the breast as much with a pump. How frequently are you pumping?
