My daughter is 4months and 2 weeks and I weaned her recently as she wasn't gaining weight on milk due to cmpi etc. She is doing really well on things like puree and baby rice but when do you introduce finger foods? What sort of things can you try for a little one?

You should wait until she can sit up unaided and is able to bring foods to her mouth on her own. For most babies, that's about 6 months though could also be later. We didn't wean until 6 months, but my daughter started finger foods then. They won't actually eat much of them as it takes a while just to practice moving food into the mouth. As long as it's past 6 months, you can try just about anything - sticks of raw veg, mashed potato, roasted veg, banana chunks, slices of apple or orange, strips of roasted chicken, fish fingers, etc. Anything in a stick shape until she develops her pincer grip (usually around 7-8 months) and can pick up smaller bits, then you can feed just about anything in any size or shape. My daughter picked up and fed herself a single grain of rice yesterday!

Thank you. She is loving her puree. She knows it doesn't make her sick like milk.

I'm probably being stupid but what's cmpi? I agree with the pp and would do that at around 6 months.
