When do naps end?

All going well, I'll have two kiddos 33 months apart. I'm wondering about a double stroller. We don't use one much except for long walks with the dog, and my son (26 months) only rides when tired. However, we do use it when we are on all day adventures and he needs a place to nap on the go.

When did your kids stop needing a place to nap when out and about all day? Either because they stopped napping or could handle skipping it on occasion?

I know all kids are different with when they drop naps, but a general idea would help. My kid still definitely needs 2 hour nap.

We'd likely do a used double jogger, so I want to know sooner rather than later if we should start hunting for steals.

Thanks!

My daughter will be four in October and still takes a nap. But she can go without if absolutely necessary. But if we are out a stroller can be nice because she gets tired more easily by mid day. I like the sit and stand stroller for this reason. But you definitely can't jog with it!

Oh and she really.couldn't go without a nap u t about 3 1/2. I'm a stickler about sleep though. I need her to take aa nap so we keep it in the schedule. If I have a bunch of errands to run then I let her stay awake. But then watch out in the evening lol.

DD1 stopped napping at 28 months, though she still likes to sit in the buggy sometimes now if we're doing a lot of walking, in which case I just put DD2 in the carrier.

Thomas stopped having a regular nap at 19 months, and Sophie around 26 months.

DD was coming up on 3 when she stopped napping, DS has just stopped at 2 1/4.

I wouldn't bother with a double pram for that age gap personally. I'd get a carrier so you can pop the baby into it if Your eldest want to ride in the buggy for a while.

My LO stopped napping at just over three years old. Even a 5 minute nap meant that bedtime could take over an hour so it really helped when the naps stopped.

Micah is 3 in a couple of weeks and he naps about half the time I would say. He's been able to skip a nap when needed for about 6 months now but he'll have a 'catch up' nap some days where he sleeps for 3 hours or so and if its not to late in the day it doesn't seem to affect nighttime sleep.

My DS stopped napping around 22 months old and only occasionally (when ill for example) napped after that.

My son started regularly skipping 2-3 naps a week at around 30 months. But lately he's been wanting his naps almost every day again. My daughter takes a lot of wearing out, so our days are pretty busy and I think he's plum tuckered!

My DS started being able to cope with only having a nap a couple of times a week and gave it up entirely a month before he turned 3. He still uses the pushchair a lot as he gets tired on days out and after pre school, we do a lot of walking as we don't have a car. I've kept the single and have a woven wrap for DD. I put her in the pushchair when DS is in preschool.

My daughter dropped her nap at about 27 months. She will occasionally still nap in the car if we have a long drive or she might need one if she has a late night (for instance, we were at a family wedding last month and she did nap for an hour that day so that we could keep her up a bit later as we hoped to stay at the wedding until 10pm). With a 33 month age gap, I'd be inclined to keep the single pushchair and get a buggy board for when your son just doesn't want to walk (but not for naps obviously), or put him in the pushchair for naps and wear your new baby in a carrier or wrap.

DS dropped his nap by 21months, we bought a double which has been used twice and a complete waste of money, our age gap is 20months so I would do as suggested by others and get a carrier, we have an ergo & love it!

Thanks for the responses, everyone! It seems like a double won't be necessary, and I'm all for less stuff! My son loved the ergo, so hopefully number 2 will also!

My son stopped napping every day at 22 months. He now only naps through his own choice when especially tired, ill, teething etc. I do have a double stroller , the joovy caboose too ultralight. At the moment ive got it set up as two proper seats because he does often fall asleep in it if we are out for ages. He's a great Walker though and just pops in and out of the stroller depending on tiredness levels. As he grows I will convert it to the sit n stand. I wouldn't get a double jogger at your children's age.
