when does ot decrease from 8-12 feeding per day?

My newborn is 9 days old and I know I'm supposed to feed him 8-12 times per day. But no one said at what point this will decrease. Will I know? Is therre some rule ? I guess I'm wondering how long they are at this stage.

they're all different. just take lo's lead.

my 22 month old still feeds around that many times a day if we're together!

They will space it out, you just feed when he's hungry, the time in between will gradually get longer and longer, it's also due to awake time, as that gets longer, feeding time get spaced out without you having to think much about it.
