Apart from the obvious - ie. when they are longer than the basket is.

I mean anyone have any idea if there is a minimum amount of space that needs to be between the top of baby's head and the top end of the basket?

Oscar, at 10 weeks, is getting near to outgrowing it but really hoping it lasts another month. We're moving house then but until then the cotbed is being used by DS1 - planning to buy him a single bed when we move but his box room wouldn't currently fit a full length bed.

When Oscar is fully stretched out there's about 6-8cm between him and top of the basket and from my red book it seems the average baby grows 4cm between 10-14 weeks. Wondering if that will be okay??

Having had DS1 go from being a good sleeper to a dreadful one when we moved him to a cot I really would rather avoid messing around with a travel cot in between! But obv will if that's what is best.

I like to (over) plan though so any thoughts appreciated!

Thomas was tiny for AGES. He was still in it at 6 months then he started growing length ways and is above average for his height (almost the height of my cousin's almost 4 year old).

I'd say it's fine for the time being as 6-8cm is quite a lot really.
