When to change teat size??

Can somebody give me some advice please on how you know when to change the teat size on bottle? Our lo is 2 weeks old and a hungry baby but I don't want to do things too early!!!

we found when lo started to really fuss on the bottle and she started to fall asleep on it and takin almost an hour to drink a bottle where normally it would of took 20mins, we changed the teat size and bang back to normal. I know alot of ppl use the vari flow teats so depending how hard they suck will determine the flow of milk but my lo just didnt take to them.

I started out breast feeding at two weeks I had switched to formula using avent bottles and size 1 teats my midwife came and said to put her on size 2 even though I was happy with size 1 taking 45 mins but I switched anyway and she was much quicker and content after a feed rather than falling asleep on the bottle. Then at 8 weeks she started to fuss on the bottle and I went to size 3 and she was happy again.

Thank you ladies ......I was just about to post a thread on this. My LO is 2 weeks old and using size 1 avent teats...it takes her a good 40-50 minutes including quick nappy change to feed 3-4oz. She seems to tire and fall asleep half way through then try to put her down but she's still hungry. I think I'll try the size 2 teat with next feed and see how it goes!

Has anyone had a problem with it being too fast for newborn baby? I can't see how fast 2 little holes can be!

I switched to size 2 at 3.5 weeks and interchanged between size 1 and 2 for a couple more weeks before completely switching over. You might as well buy and try one, you'll need it at some point in the future if not now.

Now I interchange between the size 2 and the NUK nipple which is for <6 mths. He's more efficient with the NUK nipple, I assume it's kinda variable flow, but it's too much trouble mixing the formula with the nuk nipple in the avent bottle to deal with at night.

Our LO would fuss on the bottle and sometimes cry. We changed before ten weeks and then again at 15 weeks.

iv switched my LO yesterday from TT CTN bottles with size 1 teat to the new avent bottles with size 2 teat, i find the teat size is defo better for her, she is 8 weeks old and now finishing all her milk without falling asleep

ive got my LO on variflow teats at mo wen hes 12 weeks next week he be going on to size 3
