my little one is 6 months old and formula fed. she also eats baby food twice a day... (fruit in Am, veggie at night, I make my own). she is pretty big for her age, always has been. She doesnt have any teeth yet, but has been teething for a while. she sits up on her own and is pretty advanced!
She just start sitting at her high chair this week (Santa brought one). Im wondering when would be a good time to start a few finger foods, (such as soft veggies and fruits, and maybe some cereal). Im terrified of choking!

6 months is fine. Have you looked at BLW? That's fine from 6 months.

I've started giving my LO a cup, but to play around with at the moment so she's used to it when I start putting water in at 6 months.

^WSS. A lot of mums on here don't bother at all with purees, trust me it makes no difference whether or not they have teeth, those little gums are powerful lol, a combination is fine. Chances of LO choking are minimal. Lucas has been eating 'proper' food for ages and has only had one little choking incident, aslong as you know what to do if that does happen it'll be fine and babies who are given finger foods learn to chew and feed themselves quicker than those who are fed baby food.
