When to start taking folic acid?

Hi, feel stupid asking this since I've been pregnant before but can't remember! I'm just wondering when you are supposed to start taking folic acid? I'm planning on trying to find some pregnecare (just moved to Germany not sure if they even sell it over here) and as we've just moved here I still need to register with the doctor! Tia x

Ah so I should have started by now! I didn't bother buying any pregnecare as I had a feeling it'd take us a while to get pregnant because of problems with my thyroid. I'm bot able to get to the shops today but I'll def be going hunting for some tomorrow! Only got my bfp today and really wasn't expecting it! Xx

Id get seperate folic acid than pregnacare n
because I was taking pregnacare and the midwife prescribed me more folic acid as the one in oregnacare is too low

They recommend 3 months prior but I didn't start until I missed my period. I only started it just in case I was and it turned out I was!
