when will my newborn poop?

Hi all,

Zodi is 5 days old today

He has passed his meconium a few days ago and nothing since, just pee.

My milk came in two nights ago so all day today and yesterday he has been getting milk.

When will he poop? I hear him fart and rub his tummy in case things are backed up. But when should I expect a stinky diaper?

I would have expected a few by now. Can you talk to your healthcare provider about it?

we saw a nurse yesterday and they said "should be soon" we are going in on Friday so I'm going to hold out tonight and see how he is tomorrow. If nothing by the afternoon then I will call.

He passed his meconium the first 24 hours it was all gone. And just pee and stinky farts since

My dd would go go about a week without pooing. What realy helped her was a tummy massage is she seemed like she was struggling to go but needed to. Also moving her legs in a cycling motion. Just remember to use a nappy to block the path. A fair few times oh forgot and she did a poo. Completely covered him in it.

My DD did not poo for about 5 days since she passed the meconimum. And even now, at 3 month old she goes every 4-7 days, she is bf and thats normal for her

My DD has always been an infrequent pooper. But when she went it was a lot. I'm sure it will happen soon. Especially since your milk has now come in. When they are older it's not uncommon for breastfed babies to go a couple days with out a bowel movement.

My daughter has always been a multiple times a day pooper, but my son was more infrequent. I remember when he was only a few days old and my mom was still staying with us and he went several days without pooping. We panicked and called the doctor, but they assured us that bf babies sometimes only go every few days and can even go as long as ten days between poops. He was fine! The next day he did a HUGE poo. I think it sometimes takes a few days after the meconium passes to make more poop.

just to update he did poo on day 6 now he is an every other day to every two day pooper. Just as well, I don't like poopy diapers
